Third Test: Australia v England at Edgbaston

So who's opening Watson or Hussey?

Your guess is as good as mine. Do we move Hussey who ain't in form or do we go for a guy that has 4 ducks in 6 innings? I would be tempted to put Watson there as hes more a top order batter than lower order. Plus if his tour match is anything to go by he is a quicker scorer.

Now, no one can save England. Edgebaston, here we come :D

Mate how many times? Come on, India aren't playing. And they certainly aren't playing at this fictional Edgebaston venue you speak off.

Just to clarify folks, the third Ashes Test match will kick off today at Edgbaston and will feature England and Australia. Not India.

Also, it's worth raising the point that England aren't exactly a consistent team - they are prone to being beaten.

This.

I've often found that this England team are more prone to being beaten when they're coming off the back of a victory.

A big lol at Phailip Hughes too. I bet Ben's killed himself. I fancy Watson to do well in this Test; In fact i'm gonna put my neck on the line and say he'll score at least 150 runs in total, and a minimum of 4 wickets in total. He's a good player, and he's playing against England. It's important we take that into account.

And Matt, can you please reiterate the stat that is of how many ducks Watson made whilst trying to open the batting in State cricket?

:facepalm

Hooper, he's playing against England. The team who made Andrew Hall look like a world beater. I bet you he scores a hundred; he's certainly more likely to score one than Prince Phailip.

Well I can say in the space of 1 month he got 4 ducks opening including a pair to follow up his duck in the second innings the match before. Lol 3 ducks in a row. Since 2006 he has made 15 ducks in all forms of the game whether opening or not.

I think 4 ducks is all in fc as he didnt open much. Not totally sure seems Cricinfo dont have those stats for fc I had to go through these scorecards:

That linked failed. Basically I just searched Shane Watson and when he scored 0.

Matt, England are playing against Watson. Have some more confidence because Watson is on a lower level of failing and stuffing up then England.

I bet Watson will get injured on the first day..... or the first session.

Or he'll pull his calf whilst walking down the steps...

I would actually lol if Anderson hits him on the glove in the first over and he retires hurt.

Oh i'm confident alright. We have Ian Bell in the team, why would I have reason not to be?

But I just have this nagging feeling that Watson will finally announce himself on the international scene.

Massive, massive, massive error in not playing Clark though. Unless he is actually playing? I've heard conflicting reports so far.

He's got 12 ducks in fc cricket overall - 4 at opening and a majority of the rest at 3 or 4. So he's basically a top order fail.

Fair call with the first part. Watson can never announce himself on the international scene because the third part of the post will happen 1 or 2 times every 6 months - including this test.
