Top End Series

I think India A just panicked in the first innings, they might just do better this time, but their bowling looked all at sea against the likes of Jaques.

well it will be interesting who to see who the selectors go with in the first test, it will depend on how Watson does in the remainder of this tournament and how they both go in the Champions Trophy. Good to see Birt in the runs, i first saw him in an ING game in St.Kilda 2 seasons ago and thought he was a damn fine prospect.

Aww, Birt's always in the runs! ;) Na, he's doing really well, and it's nice to see him converting his obvious potential into sustained performance. And what were you doing in big, bad Victoria? :p Or was it on TV...?
Congratulations to Watson, he's come through in leaps and bounds over the past few seasons, and it's great that he's been able to string the numbers together. He's a better prospect than Symonds in the long run, and confidence/consistent match practice is the key. I can't forget Johnson, either- he's been doing a superb job with the ball, so credit to him for bouncing back so effectively.

yeah nah it was on tv, never been to vic before :(

been to Sydney though.....but i hated it lol

i wish someone would get some cameras up there because i would love to see some of this action. No one has covered it...unbelieveable!!

I wish we had the speed gun running. Tait and Johnson are trying to beat each other on pace so they must be going really quick. It seems we had a shocker in the field 2nd time round and Johnson seems to be the victim.

Why, 'cos of the "pollution"? :p Did you just go into the heart of the actual city, or around the suburban areas too? Anyway, I'd rather live in Melbourne, but Sydney's half decent- not the part I live in, though! ;)
It'd be great if Nine covered this, as it's always good to see these sorts of players on the verge of international cricket in action, but because a large amount of viewers are interested solely in the really big stuff, the current programs already on would probably take precedence. What about ABC, though, they're a government run business..? :(
Speed guns would also be very handy, but we can't get too far ahead of ourselves, considering there aren't any cameras there in the first place!

It's a shame that we don't get to see any of it, but I doubt Cricket Australia can be bothered tendering the rights. Most people don't follow cricket enough to know that this series is even taking place and yet it's not just the future stars of Australia, there's Pakistan and India and New Zealand. Nine have lost the AFL rights, so there is some hope that they may look to broadcast off season cricket. It's still very unlikely, though.

Tours to England of course, South Africa and India will be on Nine's agenda if they are to broadcast matches overseas. I think it was the '01 ODI series in SA which Nine broadcasted (correct me if I am wrong) and ever since that they haven't showed any.

Nine actually showed the A games awhile back. I think it was Pakistan A or some team vs our one. Sky Sports NZ had them for some reason. It was back when James Hopes was opening.

Seven had the Ashes in 2001, didn't they? I don't remember the actual series too well (don't worry, I know the result ;)), but I also recall Jeff Thomson commentating!
Anyway, Syl, are you referring to when they covered the home warm-up games? I definitely remember a few of those, maybe even an England/Australia A one in 2002/03, too. They were the three or four day matches, and they also telecasted the VB series lead-up matches with WI and Pakistan against Aus A. Never had the speedometer running, though.

Looks like the Kiwis took some punishment themselves. India reduced NZ Emerging Players to 7-90. Bit of paid back after the thrashing NZ gave them last time.

Disappointing seeing the Queensland Pak A match canned cause of rain. Queensland were looking in good shape.

Stupid rain. If they stayed in Darwin, they would have no rain at all.

Where's this? It's scheduled to start tomorrow.
