Trans-Tasman Trophy (NZ in Australia), December 2011/12

I know that!!!I was just criticizing Aus A's tactics of making Warner and Cowan bowl.:facepalm

How do you not realise that they were saving all the fast bowlers as they were selected in the Australian squad?

Depends on the pitch of course, but I pretty sure heard Arthur talking about Lyon and Siddle needing to step up and lead the attack, implying that Lyon is a part of his plans. We'll see, but Watson's absence might make a difference. Having 4 quicks might help cover for Watto's overs, and then Clarke and maybe Warner could cobble together 5-10 overs a day of spin.

Yea I read about that just after I mentioned it. Guess we will see if he meant what he was saying.

Ridiculous to try to judge players on their performance in the nets. Everyone bowls faster in the nets as there are no nagging worries about no-balls, accuracy or consequences in a match situation. If one bowler shades the other it should be because they have shown they can perform in matches, particularly under match pressure, not because they beat the edge a few times in the nets.
Probably doesn't matter though, whoever plays will no doubt make a name for themselves by running through our batting line-up... :D

Hey guys, does anybody over here has any idea which channel is going to telecast AUS-NZ test series in India ?

ESS-Star Cricket is pretty much the likely broadcaster given their present contract with CA to bring best of International and domestic cricket from Australia to South-east Asia region.

I just want to confirm. Thanks in Advance.:wave

Waiting for an exciting trans-Tasman test series!!!

As above, I would have figured Cutting and Starc to gain ground in the net session because that's where nobody is keeping score and where a few good bouncers or generally awkward deliveries might generate a lot of buzz. Pattinson has pretty good pace himself, but the talk is instead about nipping the ball around. It's a good sign, because that's kind of what he has been around the team for and exactly what you'd ask him to do in a match.

Hmm, well this is one of the problems with having Michael Clarke as a selector. I wonder how often he's played with or against these 3 new fast bowlers. He'd have seen Pattinson a little bit on tour and Starc a bit in NSW training (maybe? if Clarke's ever there), but when would he have ever seen Cutting? Maybe a random domestic game a few years back? So we've got a selector and captain who wouldn't know much about his players. Sure he can be advised by people who know the players well, but still it's one of the weaknesses of the system as I see it, because Clarke really doesn't have any more personal knowledge of these guys apart from what he's seen in the nets in the last couple of days. I'm guessing he's not watching all the domestic cricket on TV like the other selectors should be doing either.

Would it be a surprise for Pattinson to miss out? I'm thinking he might. Siddle there for sure, Lyon because we love a spinner and he did alright in Saf, Cutting for being a Qld'er and knowing the ground and Starc for having a decent record at the Gabba and being a lefty.

so warner going to make debut tomorrow. His motivation is sehwag and sehwag told him to start playing first class cricket when Warner was playing for DareDevils in IPL.

Lets see like Sehwag, can he also scores a ton on his debut. :thumbs

Apparently Cutting will be carrying the drinks. Either way I'm pretty sure Pattinson was a shoe in anyway.

Damn, I would have Cutting before Starc, even as a biased NSWelshman. I guess the Aus A game is a decent indicator where Cutting's 3/150 was the worst of the 3 candidates.

Yeah I think Pattinson would be the 'senior' man of the 3 having been taken on a couple of tours previously. Also bowled with the new ball in the A game, implying that he might be first choice or at least that he can swing it. In a team with Siddle as your spearhead, badly need someone who can move the ball...

Weather could be a bit threatening later today. I live in northern NSW, a couple of hours out from Brissy and it's overcast this morning with storms expected this afternoon/evening. Usually it's the same for Brisbane, so there might be some disruption late in the day. Days 2-4 should be fine though and if the pitch is green the match might be over in 3.5 days

Well it's official, Cutting misses out. NZ to bat first, so we can sit back and enjoy the debuts of the greatest pace attack in our lifetime.

Disappointed NZ isn't playing 4 pace bowlers. I think we should back our batsman to get the job done.

I was hoping Cutting in instead of Starc. Cutting's home ground, and fc average so far this season of 24, Starc-32. NSW bias again.:rolleyes
