Trans-Tasman Trophy (NZ in Australia), December 2011/12

Pretty sure this was his last chance.. failing against the Kiwis is all the indication you need. A welcome return for NSW nevertheless.

Difficult batting conditions as far as I know.

I think it's unfortunate that he still ended up caught Guptill bowled Martin, because on paper it looks like a simple trend when it was a different ball and a far more credible shot; at the very least one you'll see Khawaja playing. Anybody else would be forgiven for the nick, but to make up for past misdeeds, Hughes really has to be far better than anyone else.

It's good to see we are facing the same conditions as NZ did. a) It gives Warner and Khawaja a chance to show what they can do in green conditions and b) Keeping it an even contest, I always hate how the sun comes out and gives a substantial advantage to one side.

Would people say it's fair to say that Ponting has always had an LBW potential flaw. In fact for years commentators often tried to say it was a weakness as he consistently planted four after four through midwicket. Surely, eventually, the eyes just won't be there to get away with it?

Early in his innings he has but hard to complain with what he was doing in his hay days. Then came a period where he was getting out to the pull shot so it's not like Hughes getting caught at slip everyday.

Useless fact time since Nine isn't giving us enough - Brownlie's score of 56 is equal to the total of Aus and NZ's top 4 batsmen combined.

With that ball he wasn't really falling over, which is probably why he knew it was plumb straight way. Like so many batsmen recently, he just didn't know whether to leave or not and played too late.
