Trans-Tasman Trophy (NZ in Australia), December 2011/12

Has Clarke given up bowling altogether? Is his back that bad?

Need a big morning. Batting has gotten easier through the days play so far, so if Australia can have the second half of the day to get off to a start they'll win this I think.

Taylor's the obvious key for us, the match will more than likely come down to how he performs.

well, I was going to say the early period is key because batsmen did seem to be able to play this wicket with a little settling time.

so, er, that's not so good losing williamson in the first over but no sign of a panic so maybe it wasn't that key. (I think "first period is key" is a bit of a cliche anyway, of course losing lots of wickets in the first hour is bad and putting a fifty partnership together is good, so it is sort of stating the bleeding obvious.)

Haha Stinky, yeah that's true. Definitely one of the biggest cliches!

I always love how through a test match, Botham (and a couple of other commentators to be fair) will pretty much say whichever session is about to start is the most important session of the match. Well, obviously Ian, it's the only one that anyone can currently do anything about :p

That is a very good sign for Pattinson, getting a wicket on a flat pitch and a set and determined batter.

While Starc hasn't looked all that threatening apart from that ball to Brownlie, he has kept it tight at least.

Young needs a score here, excluding Zimbabwe he's only passed 20 once in seven innings.

You guys definitely need to get rid of Young.
Good bowling by Siddle, I hope this isn't a flash in the pan from him.

southee gone. shows why test cricket is great with how much can hang on such a short period of time. two overs of that would have lent a totally different feel to the game.

They needed every run they could get and could have played just a fraction smarter. With someone like Hussey in the deep, they didn't have to hit too many into the area to pick him out.
