Great win for Pakistan. Chasing down 300 with only the loss of 3 wickets is very good.

Awesome pres, kiu!

Well, looking at that scorecard would make you think it was an easy game. I can assure you that it was tighter than it looked. We won with just the 1 ball remaining, making a hash of what was an easy total.

We bowled superbly, keeping it very tight through the middle overs. Kaneria was sensational, taking 3 for 21 from his 10 overs. It looked an easy target to chase, needing under 4 runs per over.

Afridi and Butt got off to a blistering start, hitting 41 off the first 5. They then only hit 10 off the next 5, and soon after the end of the 1st powerplay Afridi went. Khan continued his bad form, but Butt and Inzi cruised along comfortably. Butt neared his century with just 20 odd runs needed, so he tried to keep the strike. The thing was that he couldn't get the ball away. That left us with 6 needed off the last 2 overs, which came down to 3 off the final over. We made it, and to make things worse, both of them fell 1 short of their milestones.

All a bit of a farce really, but we won, and that's all that matters.

How did you take so long to do that? You were chasing a peach easy score. Gutted for Butt and Inzy.

I dunno, Butt was on 5 bars and Inzi on 4 all the way through their partnership. Butt just couldn't get any runs when I told him to keep strike. It's worth mentioning that it was a pitch massively in favour of the bowlers.

Reaction
We lost the toss again and they chose to bat first again. Gayle and Ganga opened their innings but in the second over we got our first wicket, Ganga going for a golden duck to Arafat. A 248 run second wicket partnership came up next though as Gayle and Lara destroyed our bowlers. It only ended when Lara got caught by Inzi off Afridi's bowling for 112 off 126 balls. A fantastic score to add to his collection. Chanderpaul came and shortly went after getting ran out for 9 runs but straight after Chris Gayle got bowled by Riaz. He ended up with 122 off 133 which isn't bad at all. Hinds came and went as Sarwan finished off the West Indies innings, mananing 43* off 21 balls himself. 315 was the score, which meant we had to bat even better than the last game. The bowlers were once again shocking and only Afridi really stood out.

Tariq and Khan opened the innings well for us with a 64 run opening stand. Tariq the first man to go for 29 runs. Inzi failed yet again with 4 fours but then in came Yousuf. Things changed? No. Khan got out shortly after Inzi for 62 runs and it seemed like we were destined to lost, with our score on 104/3. Yousuf and Iqbal put on a little bit of resillience but unfortunately Iqbal could only manage 22. Shahid Afridi, our best bowler this series, then came in and just wowed everyone. He batted with Yousuf until he got out for 67 but was smashing them everywhere. You could tell how well he was playing as our last partnership was 60* and he got 49 runs in that partnership. 115* didn't flatter his innings as it really was that good. Only 55 balls too! Alam helped him home with 11 but it was Shahid's day with his brilliant display with the bat.

We lost the toss for the 3rd time this series and for the first time we have to bat first. It starts incredibly well with Tariq and Khan batting well together and batting fast together, putting on 69 before Khan got out for 43. Inzi and Tariq then put on a 50 odd partnership before Inzi got ran out for 26. Inzi got ran out? Good lord, never happened before! Tariq was then involved in his 3rd 50th partnership of the match before he got out, bowled by Jeremy for 68 runs. 179/3 and in complete control. We then crumbled on what seemed to be not alot of pressure as Yousuf got out shortly after for 50 before Alam(8), Niazi(2) and Arafat(0) failed to make 10 runs. With the score on 207/7 it looked like we had done a Battrick collapse. Alas came our last partnership of Afridi and Akhtar. Nobody could of saw what happened. An incredible partnership of 84(!) took our score to 291/7 after 50 overs. Afridi obviously the main man getting 52* off 36 balls but Akhtar played better than most would of thought and was instrumental, notching 32* off 50 balls. A good score set, which would be hard for West Indies to chase.

The West Indies had a poor start as their first few wickets fell without them making many runs, as they crumbled to a poor 84/4. Gayle(4), Lara(17) and Chanderpaul(12) had all failed in the batting department whilst Ganga made a decent 38. Hinds(23), Baugh(25) and Smith(24) were the only good batting performances left in their innings apart from a one man cameo from Ramnaresh Sarwan which saw their total go higher than it should of. 47 off 44 before getting ran out was a good innings from the Windies batsman. After batting so well this series, no-one saw them doing this poorly. It was a good day for the bowlers though with Arafat being the most impressive, getting figures of 3-43. Akhtar bowled and batted well whilst Afridi(2-64), E-akbar(1-34) and Khaneria(1-28) all helped back up the other bowlers to do some annihilation. Utter dominance.

Aren't Pakistan meant to be a fast scoring team?

What a complete and utter mess we made of that. Piece of cake needing 222 and only 3 wickets lost whilst being above the required rate with 10 overs to go. We disgraced ourselves, getting it down to 9 off 6. But then to only pick up 6 runs from the final over was near diabolical.

We bowled very well, Afridi and Kaneria finally chipping in together for the first time this series. E-akbar was brilliant in the first 10 and last 10 of the innings, keeping West Indies to a mediocre score. Butt was brilliant again with 48 from 44 at the top.

Now this is where the problem occurs. We have two out of form batsmen at the crease chugging along without a care in the world. Until they realise they need runs, they can't get them. You'd look at the game summary and say, well Khan and Yousuf batted well. Wrong. I'd rather have all my middle/lower order hit 10-20 at a run a ball than see these two hit 100+ ball 70's. A strike rate below 70 is just not acceptable in an ODI game. If we had won, it, of course, would not have been such a big deal, but we didn't win.

They will keep their place for the next game, but their instructions will be to go all out from the word go. As you can tell, I'm pretty pissed at the result!

Who would believe it? This series really is turning out to be a real cracker!

We lost the toss and were made to bowl, to my disgust. We bowled well to be fair, although they did get a few more runs than I hoped. Razzaq was superb in the 2nd and 3rd powerplay, and then at the death as well. Kaneria was good, as well as E-akbar and Afridi. Arafat didn't pick up a wicket which surprised me.

We had a horrendous start with the bat, losing Razzaq and Khan early. With 25 overs to go we still needed to score at 7 runs per over to win. We knocked that down to 76 off the final 10. From needing 36 off 4 we scored at 9 runs each over until we needed 9 off the final over. What would be the odds of getting 9 for the 4th over running to win the match? We played and missed at the first ball, and couldn't get a run off the second. Then we got a lucky break, Bravo bowled a wide to make it 8 off 4. We then scored a 3 and a 2 to need 3 off 2. Off the final two deliveries we picked up singles to end up tied.

Despite the tie, I'm fairly pleased with how we played. Lets just hope it's not going to go down to the alst over for the 4th ODI running!

Well what a game! Seeing as you needed 3 off 2 I'd have thought you'd do it but you didn't. Still a great match. E-akbar is a cracking call up.

Reaction
Well we won the toss for the first time and elected to bat first. It started well with Tariq and Khan putting on a good 80 opening partnership as they continue to dominate. Tariq eventually went for 29 before Inzi came in and made a quick and powerful 27. Yousuf and Khan then fell quickly after for 1 and 73 respectively as we crumbled from 125/1 to 144/4. It didn't get much better as Nisar(21) and Niazi(27) put on decent scores before Afridi failed with the bat yet again, only managing a golden duck. Arafat made a neat 26 off 24 balls and Akhtar helped iwth 14 from 20 but we ended up skittling for a mere 227. We should of made quite a bit more than that and would of done if it wasn't for their bowlers who bowler rather well.

It was then our turn to bowl and we started well as we removed Gayle soon after the start. It was only a small comeback from them as all their top order scored, but no-one converted. Ganga(24), Lara(39), Chanderpaul(27) and Sarwan(31) all prove my point. Hinds then came and went with Baugh making a small score before the all rounders Bravo and Smith came in. We were miles ahead and looked like we would get an easy victory. Although Bravo and Smith started hitting before Bravo got out for 29 runs. It was now down to us getting Smith and Mohammed out. We couldn't do this and it went to the last over. They needed 5 runs to win, we needed 2 wickets. They only got 1 run off the first 3 balls so it looked like we had got a victory as they needed 4 runs to win off 3 balls. Still, a boundary would win them the match. Unfortunately though, they then scored a 2 and a 1 which meant the scores were tied and they needed 1 off the last ball to win the match with Mohammed on strike. It was a straight one from Akhtar and it knocked middle stump out of the ground! What an ending! A tie! Kaneria and Akhtar were fantastic whilst Arafat was still quite good with 2-54. Epic match though.

What a coincidence lol. Great bowling by Akhtar to keep his nerve at the end.
