India vs New Zealand - New Zealand elect to bat first!
Stage set for India - New Zealand to start!
Things are looking positive at Christchurch with the weather not playing too much of an interferrence. All eyes on the pitch and how it is going to play. Lets get down with Martin Crowe for the pitch report.
Martin Crowe: The pitch looks good to last the whole day. It has some moisture at the start of the game and would remain for the first one hour. But then, the pitch would flatten out to become a very good batting track. Ideally, the team batting first will have a bit of disadvantage because of the early moisture. But since this game is a Day/night one, the disadvantage evens out as the ball will have some movement in the night.
Greg Chappell: So, this should set up a good exciting game between two of the top quality sides in the world. Lets get down to the toss with Ian Chappell.
Dravid and Fleming, the two captains look confident at the toss. Chappell asks Dravid to toss the coin. Fleming calls Heads. The coin comes down and Fleming bends down on the coin in anticipation of a Heads and it is indeed HEADS!!!
I Chappell:Your call Fleming?
Fleming: We are going to have a bat first. The wicket looks good for batting. And we did not chase well under the lights in the previous game against England. So we do want to try out the other option of setting a target here!
I Chappell: Any changes in your squad?
Fleming: Lou Vincent and Tuffey are dropped and Shane Bond and Paul Wiseman comes into the side.
I Chappell: Thank you Fleming. So Dravid, feeling disappointed?
R Dravid: Not at all Ian. We would have been happy with either result on the toss. It doesnt matter big to us. We are here to play good cricket and win. The wicket will be good for batting throughout the game.
I Chappell: Any changes to your squad?
R Dravid: No. We play the same team that beat England!
I Chappell: Thanks Dravid. So gentlemen, New Zealand win the toss and decide to bat first!
Both the teams on to the field. Lets get down to the commentary box. To start the proceedings with, it will be Ravi Shastri and Greg Chappell.
