this can go either way

This match might be a fresh life breather into this series which has seen easy victories so far by India and England!

61 off 60 balls! Will India do it?
Ajay Jadeja 61*
MS Dhoni 19*

Two very tight overs from Astle and Cairns saw India getting back to the required run rate of over 6 runs per over. Dhoni was beaten thrice in the over from Chris Cairns with two times being rapped on his pads. But luckily he survives. Both times, it looked very very close but the umpire thought otherwise. Jadeja on the other end is in his usual sublime self playing with ultimate ease.

6.1 runs required off every over from now on. Can India win this one or will New Zealand script a win? To know more, stay tuned to this thread!

1 more over before the "Guess the winner & Man of the match" contest will be over. Hurry up and predict the winner and the Man of this match and win reputation points!

When the going gets tough, the tough should get going!

India need 53 runs off 48 balls!
Ajay Jadeja 67*

Things started to get tougher for India. Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been dismissed for 24 by Astle. Dhoni tried to clear the straight boundary but found the fielder at the ropes to be caught for 24. It was a clever move from Astle to position a fielder there and then bowl a straight delivery to Dhoni on his stumps. Dhoni played the way Astle wanted him to and Astle showed it in his body language after that wicket.

The required run rate now is 6.63 runs per over. Even though Jadeja is not out at the wicket, India might find it tough if they do not start taking some risks as currently they are starting to fall below the required run rate and they should pick up before it starts to get too late!

34 runs to win off 36 balls! Down to the wire truly!
Ajay Jadeja 77* (76)

This match is well and truly down to the wire with New Zealand and India fighting it out desperately for a victory here! India need 34 runs from 36 balls but have only 3 wickets left. Ajit Agarkar is out, caught at fine leg off the bowling of Scott Styris. Agarkar hit two consecutive fours off the first two balls of the over and again tried to clear the fine leg fence the third ball but mistimed it to be caught at fine leg for 11 off 6 balls!

Jadeja is carrying on at 77* off 76 balls. India need 34 runs to win! Jadeja needs 23 runs for a well deserving century which will be his first after his return to international cricket. Will he score his century and help India win? Or is New Zealand having some other plans for the night? Lets get down to the final stages of this terrific climax!!!

India need 22 runs off 24 balls!

India need 22 runs off 24 balls!
Ajay Jadeja 87* (81)

All rests on Jadeja's hands as India enter the last 4 overs of their terrific run chase so far with 3 wickets in hand and needing 22 runs to win at 5.50 runs per over. The previous over was milked for 8 runs by Jadeja who hit a beautiful square drive for four and then swept the ball fine to the square leg for another four. Irfan Pathan at the other hand, is looking too scratchy and looks to get out at anytime. New Zealand need a wicket soon as this match looks to be slipping away from them.

New Zealand strike huge blows!

New Zealand on threshold of a fantastic victory!
Ajay Jadeja 88*

WHAT A FLUCTUATION OF FORTUNES IN THIS TERRIFIC MATCH???? In another vital turnaround, New Zealand are sitting pretty to win this match. India have just one wicket remaining and need 20 runs off 18 balls. In the 46th over, the first ball was hit for 2 runs by Jadeja. The next ball, Jadeja pushed the ball to fine leg. Pathan called Jadeja and was out of his crease. Jadeja took a few steps forward and then went back into his crease and shouted back to Pathan to get back. But a direct throw from Styris from fine leg was too hot for Pathan to handle and Pathan was run out by a few yards.

2 more runs were scored off the next three balls before another tragedy struck. It was the last ball of the over and Jadeja signalled to Kumble to run for a single so that he can get the strike back. Jadeja flicked the ball and ran for the single wildly. But the fielder at mid on scooped on the ball and effected a lightning throw to the wicketkeeper and Kumble was no way going to get back into his crease in time!

Well, New Zealand now need 1 more wicket to emerge winners. India on the other hand, can be happy that Jadeja is going to be back on strike! Zaheer Khan is the new and the last batsman in for India.

20 RUNS, 18 BALLS, 1 WICKET, VICTORY FOR EITHER SIDE!! THE BEST MEDICINE THAT THE DOCTOR ORDERED FOR THIS SERIES!!!

CLOSER IT GETS TO HANDLE!!

6 OFF 6 BALLS - RUN A BALL NEEDED!
Ajay Jadeja 90* (91)

Will this be the match of the series? Both teams are still not assured of a victory as we enter the last over. India needed 20 of 18 balls with only 1 wicket remaining. But Zaheer Khan had other plans as he tore into Chris Cairns and scored 12 runs off the 47th over to bring down the required rate to 3.5 per over off the last two. But Astle again had other plans as he tied down Jadeja to just a solitary run off the over (that too, the run came only off the last ball in another desperate attempt by Jadeja). Now the equation stands at a peak. 6 runs to win off 6 balls and only 1 wicket in hand! Fans of both teams gear up to what promises to be a terrific over (the last over!) which is going to seal the fate of this match.

Remember - If the match is a tie, New Zealand win the full four match points as New Zealand scored 262 off 47.5 overs and India are 257 off 48 overs with a wicket remaining. Only way for India to not lose the 4 points is to get the required runs! A tie is as good as a win for New Zealand!

Tension mounting among Indian fans - 6 off 4 balls!

Tension mounting among Indian fans - 6 off 4 balls!!
Ajay Jadeja 90* (93)

The tension is mounting among the Indian fans right now as the first two balls off the last over are dot balls. Bowled by Shane Bond, Jadeja looks to be under immense pressure as he is not in favor of Zaheer Khan getting the strike as Khan cannot handle the pressure better than him. He avoided a single off the first ball and was beaten off the second ball. 6 off 4!!!! All eyes on India and Jadeja!!!!

India showing signs of choking in the final moment!!!

Finally a single off the fourth ball!!! India need 5 off 2 balls!!!! Will Zaheer Khan do it for India? Jadeja is having a problem with his helmet and has requested the umpire for a replacement to be sent in. But the umpire has rejected his proposal on discussing with Stephen Fleming because with only two balls, it is not necessary for Jadeja to replace his helmet at this time. The Indian fans chanting "ZAHEER KHANNNNNNNN......." now!!!!

4 OFF THE LAST BALL!!!!

Jadeja has been put back on strike by Khan with a cheeky single to mid off.. Now, everything rests on Jadeja. Stephen Fleming positioning all his fielders on the ropes. Now, to the final ball of this nail biting climax to a terrific clash between two top quality sides!!! Over to Bond and Jadeja who are sharing the limelight now!

WHAT A MATCH HAVE WE WITNESSED HERE?? DESPITE THE TIGHTEST FIELDING SET UP BY NEW ZEALAND OFF THE LAST BALL OFF THE MATCH, WE HAVE SEEN JADEJA BREAKING THE FIELD AND HITTING A THRILLING FOUR TO SEAL THE MATCH FOR INDIA!!! EMOTIONAL SCENES HERE AT CHRISTCHURCH WITH JADEJA POINTING TOWARDS THE PRESS BOX WITH ELAN AS HE JUMPED ONTO ZAHEER KHAN AFTER THE WIN!!!

indiawin6wm.jpg

The whole Indian team is right now on the ground and onto Ajay Jadeja. This is the most thrilling of victories and this should surely boost the Indian team to the hilt. A very close match where India were always behind the required run rate. But a man called Ajay Jadeja simply turned the fortunes of the team with a brilliant knock that can be considered one of the best of all time!

Right now, the team celebrating like mad out there on the ground... We will get back with the Match report and the presentation ceremony soon! Stay tuned!

Ajay Jadeja  :noway

Did you follow the thread from the start of this triangular series? I had informed why I added him to the team. He has overturned his ban and he is performing well in domestic circuit. And he still is vying for an Indian slot. And I do not pick the same team that the national selectors pick. I play the role of the selector here and so I picked a performing player in the current domestic circuit.
