good luck and all the best

Thanks...

India reach 14/0 after two overs

India elected to bat first on a Hard Chepauk wicket and have got off to a good start. They survived a testing first over from Vaas who was brilliant and pitched balls almost short of a good length and made the batsman think.

Tendulkar essayed a delightful backfoot cover drive (see screenshot belo!) and a superbly timed sweep to push India off to a good start!

A channel change for the viewers here! ESPN taking over the live telecast of the India-Sri Lanka ODI as DD Sports have switched to the telecast of the Inter State Hockey Tournament!!

India in SERIOUS TROUBLE!!!

India have landed themselves in serious trouble at the end of 10 overs in this ODI against Sri Lanka. Though they have been scoring at nearly 10 runs per over due to the fielding restrictions, they are being prised out by the Lankans with a mixture of good and unplayable deliveries. India are right now 96/4 with Rahul Dravid and Yuvraj Singh batting in the middle.

Manjrekar: What is this Ravi? India are 4 down for 96 in just 10 overs!!!
Shastri: Yes. I think the Lankans though have given extras, have bowled those unplayable deliveries and that has lead to the Indian downfall.

Manjrekar: I wouldnt say downfall as Yuvraj and Dravid are capable of leading the team and restoring back their position
Shastri: Yes, but it would be really tough now. They have to get down and try not to lose wickets until they are really well settled. Run rate is not an issue for them. Wickets are of course an issue!

India in deep trouble, anything under 250, SriLanka have a good chance

I agree.. anything under 270 and Sri Lanka will consider themselves very lucky.

India immersed in trouble!

India have been immersed more into trouble when their star batsman, Rahul Dravid was LBW to Zoysa for 26. It was a very interesting over in which the first three balls were despatched to the fence for 3 fours by Dravid. Zoysa followed it up with a full toss the fourth ball and Dravid in his overconfidence tried to on drive it for another four but missed the line of the ball to be LBW for 26. India 134/5 after 15 overs. This seems a paradise of a wicket but they are losing regular wickets and look to fold up less than 200 if this rate of wickets keep falling.

Highlight of Dravid's short yet rollicking innings!

India 134/5 | Yuvraj 27*

India starring down the barrel!

A shoddy performance from India. But not too much their mistake. Its more of luck favoring Sri Lanka a lot today. Dhoni who played some delightful strokes, missed a sweep and was LBW to Zoysa. And Balaji next ball was LBW again as Zoysa prised out two wickets off consecutive balls. India 175/7 after 25 overs. Their run rate is 7 per over but they look to certainly fall below 250!

India 175/7 | Yuvraj 48*

India bowled out for 249 in the second ODI

India have turned in a very average performance with the bat scoring just 249 runs in their alloted 50 overs. They didnt even play 40 overs as they were bowled out in their 35th over itself. They were more aggressive today and that has cost them more runs. Yuvraj played a superb innings of 93 before he too tried to be aggressive and holed out. Sri Lanka bowled well though the run rate of India was at 7.4 per over. India have themselves to blame for. Sri Lanka are favorites to win this match and level the series 1-1

After Yuvraj fell, the rest followed him back as India folded up for 249.

Sri Lanka off to a good start!

Sorry for the late update! Was busy yesterday. Back to the match. Sri Lanka are chasing 250 to win the 2nd ODI of this Coca Cola Cup ODI series against India at Chennai

Sri Lanka 35/0 after 5 overs

Sri Lanka have got off to a flyer here at Chennai scoring 35/0 after 5 overs chasing 250 to win the second ODI. Jayasuriya has given them a typical blistering start by attacking the Indian bowlers scoring 19 off 18 deliveries. Gunawardena at the other end if not out on 9* as the Indian bowlers are finding it hard to grip the ball under the lights. The dew factor is working against them and Sri Lanka right now are ahead in this match!

Sri Lanka right on top

Sri Lanka have blasted away toa great start and are now almost cruising to a comprehensive victory. Though India have pegged them back with two quick wickets, Sri Lanka look very safe for a win with many of their frontline batsmen yet to come in.

Avishka Gunawardena was out for 63 when his skied attempt was pouched at mid off. The lucky bowler was Saurav ganguly as he was being thrashed in that over. Next to go was Jayasuriya for 46 when his high lofted shot found the man at the boundary.

I hope people here are reading my story.. Comments would always be welcome and are expected and appreciated!!

Good start by the Lankan openers. Lots of fours hit by both of them.
I think the match is well poised at this stage.

i think srilanka might be able to win this one because of the excellent start by the 2 openers but india can stop that by getting a few quick wickets

right now, india are not able to extract anything from the wicket. and Sangakkara, Jayawardena, Dilshan, etc are to come.

I see this match almost in the pocket for Sri Lanka. But I have some faith in my bowling. Lets see what happens!

Sri Lanka coasting to a comprehensive win!!

Sri Lanka on way to a comprehensive win!

Sri Lanka are on their way to a comprehensive win over India in the Coca Cola ODI series. Sri Lanka need 65 runs off 25 overs to win this second match. They are three wickets down with the last wicket to fall that of Marvan Atapattu stumped by Tendulkar. It was poor captaincy from Ganguly to persist with Tendulkar when he was going for runs. Ganguly, perhaps on the fact that Tendulkar bowled brilliantly in the previous match, persisted with him (I was overconfident he would deliver today too!) and paid the price. But luckily, Atapattu gave charge to Tendulkar only to find the ball settle in Dhoni's hands and Atapattu had no option but to walk off!

Sri Lanka are coasting to a good win. India's field placements and their bowling lacks the penetration today. When it comes to pressure, they are found wanting.

SRI LANKA WIN BY 7 WICKETS!!
Sri Lanka have won the match by 7 wickets and in a very comfortable manner. Jayawardens scored the winning runs with a nudge through mid on for 2 runs as the Sri Lankans celebrated. India endured a very horrible day at the office conceding easy runs to the Sri Lankans. Sangakkars and Gunawardena scored half centuries as Sri Lanka made the small target of 250 look very easy. The wicket had absolutely nothing for the bowlers and India toiled and finally gave up. They used all the 10 bowlers available to pick wickets but of no avail.

srilankawin0ix.jpg

The series is now tied 1-1. This is a very gritty and a superb display by the Sri Lankans after losing the first match by a very close 4 runs. On the other hand, India should look into their batting and bowling to see what went wrong today! They almost lost the first ODI and have lost the second ODI.

Presentation to follow soon!

after seeing Pakistan do well in my previous thread, you should have expected this.

Sri Lanka win 2nd ODI by 7 wickets

In the end, a very comprehensive victory to the Islanders, Sri Lanka by 7 wickets. On a day when the pitch was a belter, India faltered big time to be all out for 249. In the end, the total proved too small and Sri Lanka romped home with 3 wickets to spare. The top scorers for Sri Lanka were Gunawardena with 63 and Sangakara with 56*.

For India, Yuvraj Singh top scored with a fluent 93 whearas the others failed to make good contributions as they were hell bent upon scoring fast!

Now to the presentation!

Shastri: Welcome to the presentation of the 2nd ODI between India and Sri Lanka at the Chepauk stadium, Chennai. I would like to call upon the Indian captain Saurav Ganguly. So Ganguly, disappointed with the loss?

Ganguly: Yes, we could have batted better than what we did today. It was a day when not much went right for us. We lost regular wickets and we couldnt recover easily

Shastri: What was the plan when you guys batted? You all seemed to be in a hurry

Ganguly: We planned to score faster today but it was a day when not much went right for us as I said. We lost wickets soon and were all out for 249.

Shastri: Bad luck today and good luck for the next match. Now I would like to call upon Marvan Atapattu. A great win Marvan!!

Atapattu: Yes Ravi. It was a great win today. We played very well as a unit. We kept the pressure on India and their batting did not click thanks to our bowling and our fielding.

Shastri: Were you nervous when the chase started?
Atapattu: Not much nervous. We knew if we got a good start ,we would win this one. And we got it thanks to Jayasuriya and Gunawardena

Shastri: Thanks Marvan. Now for the Man of the match. This is a joint one today with YUVRAJ SINGH & AVISHKAR GUNAWARDENA

Shastri: So Yuvraj, how did you go about your innings today?
Yuvraj: I was instructed to get some quick runs today. We all tried to do it but unluckily the others couldnt go about that way. I luckily got some runs under my belt today. Though I am sad that the team lost

Shastri: Gunawardena, how does this innings mean to you?
Avishka: Great!! I wanted to play a match winning knock for my team. Though this one cant really be classified into a match winning one, it helped in my team winning the match. And I am thrilled for that

Shastri: Thanks Gunawardena. Thats all we have here from the Chepauk stadium, Chennai. See you at the third ODI. Till then, its signing off from our studios.
