India elect to field first (AGAIN!) in the third ODI

The match officially gets restarted. The rain stopped overnight and the drainage people just in time have got the ground in normal shape and have drained the water that had clogged in. The match starts on Normal time as the two captains stroll out to the toss with Robin Jackman.

Atapattu tosses the coin, Saurav calls heads and heads it is!

RJ: Saurav, your call?
SG: We would like to field first

RJ: A pretty brave decision!!
SG: Not much. We have had heavy rain yesterday. The temperature now is more warmer and this should provide swing for our bowlers. And this wicket has straw colored grass which will keep it firm throughout the game. So, we are equipped to chase any total.

RJ: Your team?
SG: Same team that played the rain affected match yesterday.

RJ: All the best! So Marvan, how do you look at this toss?
MA: I havent been really lucky with tosses off late and Saurav is getting more lucky with them these days. However, it doesnt hinge on the toss. If we get a total fo around 300 on the board, we might be in with a very good chance of winning.

RJ: Thanks gentlemen. So India have won the toss and decided to field first!

Sri Lanka 46/1 after 9 overs -Gunawardena OUt!

After a good start to their innings, Sri Lanka lose their first wicket for 46. Zaheer Khan who was taken to the cleaners today by Jayasuriya and Gunawardena was taken out off the attack and Ganguly pressed himself in. He bowled a beautiful first over where he gave only 1 run. In his second over, Gunawardena hit a four to deep mid on but he skied the next ball to mid off where Sehwag took a tumbling catch. Ganguly is elated. Sri Lanka 46/1

Sri Lanka in a good position - 83/2 (15 overs)

Sri Lanka 83/2 (15 overs)
S.Jayasuriya 48(50)
A.Gunawardena 20(28)
S.Ganguly 1/23 (5 overs)

Current RR: 5.33 | 35 overs remaining

Sri Lanka have got off to a good start in the 3rd ODI against India at Bangalore scoring 83/2 after their first 15 overs. The men out are the two openers.

Jayasuriya was out for 48 when he recklessly charged Kumble and missed the ball and Dhoni behind the stumps made no mistake! He was gone for 48 as India heaved a sigh of relief. Jayasuriya was belting the Indian bowlers in the park. Atapattu and Sangakkara are at the crease right now

A.Ranatunga: Sri Lanka are in a good position though they have lost Jayasuriya. Atapattu and Sangakkara should now move the score forward and set their sights on a total very close to 300.

Shastri: Yes. But I think India have not bowled badly so far. They have picked two important wickets of batsman who can accelerate the scoring at any time of the game. Now they need to keep picking wickets at regular intervals and bog the scoring rate down.

I think India should have batted anyway good start by Srilanka, good runrate maintained despite losing a wicket

Actually, India wanted to have a chase for them this series and also since it rained yesterday, the cool air would help the bowlers to get more swing.

Ganguly, a swing bowler is bowling well today and is getting help off the wicket! Nehra and Ganguly have been the best bowlers for India today!

sri lanka make a good start after 15 overs

I agree. Its certainly a good start for them

P.s: Hey buddy, just an advice - reduce a signature a bit as it takes more time than usual to scroll down to other messages. May be remove the West Indies score and just keep the score of the team playing the current innings in your thread! Or put all scores in a single line including batsman scores so that lines are saved!

Good to see Ganguly bowling well.......come on dada!!

yes. and the pitch today seems to be helping him more than anything else!!!

May be Ganguly should try himself in tommorrows odi vs pak maybe the form he is here against Sri lanks may help Sai, But i am afraid, pitch wont suit him

Ha Ha. Yes.. NO way he looks like bowling tomorrow. Only in the case of an extreme backlash from Pakistan might he think of turning his arm over.

The pitch tomorrow is again expected to be a belter of a batting track!!

good start by srilankans.

Yep...

nice to see you post in my thread!!!

Sri Lanka 122/2 - 25 overs

Sri Lanka 122/2 - 25 overs
Marvan Atapattu 23*(48)
K.Sangakkara 15* (40)
Saurav Ganguly 10-0-37-1

Current RR: 4.48 | 25 overs remaining

A De Silva: That was a very tight passage of play for Sri Lanka. They found it very hard to score runs. The Indian bowlers, especially their captain Ganguly exerted great pressure to reduce the run rate to below 5 runs per over

Harsha Bhogle: Yes Aravinda. Ganguly bowled brilliantly and did not let the Sri Lankans score easy runs at all. He was well supported by Anil Kumble

A De Silva: Atapattu is playing well right now and if he stays on for some more time, Sri Lanka can up their scoring rate and make a dash towards 270-280 which would be a very challenging total in the night for India to play for!

What???

Harsha Bhogle commentating for Ten Sports??

India have bowled well according to me and have made it difficult for the visitors to score runs. But they must pick up wickets, otherwise in the last few overs, the Lankans might explode.

Sorry yaar. He came to my mind suddenly.

And is he a specific commentator of a particular channel? I will change it if he does not comment for other channels..
