here you go sai... WHAT sehwag out:( that sucks

thanks for sending that...

well, its bad news for India. One more wicket is down - Gambhir is also gone. Batting is terribly tough on this wicket with the ball seaming like hell!

Holy crap - India deep down the straits!

NEW ZEALAND TEAR INDIA!
VVS Laxman 18*
Irfan Pathan 16*

India have been buried down the pit by a terrible performance with the bat. Asked to bat first on a nightmare pitch, the Indian batsmen also played a part in their burial today with some lacklustre shots that should have been played in one day matches.

After Sehwag was out for 1, India lost their second wicket when Gautam Gambhir tried to flick a ball from Shane Bond but the ball had enough seam in it to miss the bat and rap Gambhir on his pads and the umpire made no mistake. Next to go was Tendulkar. Tendulkar scored 7 runs before he tried to straight drive a ball but was too far outside his leg stump in his attempt to make room for the ball. The ball missed his bat and crashed into his off stump.

After that, Dravid and Ganguly started putting up a partnership. Ganguly in particular looked unusually aggressive to start with today, hooking the short balls with gay abandon while Dravid also started to loosen up with some gorgeous shots. But as it has happened before, a wicket started a collapse. And here it happened. Dravid tried to sweep a full length delivery from Astle and the ball flew in the air and the midwicket fielder dived full length to cling on to a marvellous catch. Next to go was Ganguly and this time, to his usual horror running. Ganguly after taking the first run wanted a second run but Laxman denied him the run. Instead, Ganguly was out of his ground at the non striker's end. Kaarthick played a few good strokes before a Vettori turner surprised him. He thought the ball would turn outside off stump but surprisingly the ball didnt have turn and knocked off the bails of his stumps.

Laxman and Pathan are right now fighting to save it for India. Laxman in particular played some good strokes that showed his class. If Pathan and Laxman can put up another 60-80 runs, then India are in a safe zone. This pitch is not fit for international cricket. The ball is seaming a lot here. But still, the batsmen are also to be blamed for the debacle. Also, they have not yet come out of their one day fast scoring mode.

reminds me of IND played on NZ last time around!, poor batting display by IND.

Worst Performance from India!

India crumble to 161 all out!
Irfan Pathan 32

India have crumbled to 161 all out in the second session of the first day of the first test at Wellington. In what is touted to be a repeat of their worst performance in Ahmedabad where they were skittled out for 83 by Dion Nash and co., India have been bowled out for 161 by some combined good bowling by New Zealand and some one day shot selection in a test match by the Indian batsmen. After lunch, first to go was VVS Laxman for 18. Laxman tried to sweep the ball but top edged it for the keeper to make no mistake. Next to go was Harbhajan Singh who tried to straight drive the ball but the ball seamed enough to take the outside edge on its way to the wicketkeeper who had a great day behind the stumps

Zaheer Khan was out bowled as he missed the line of the ball totally to see his stumps re-arranged. The last man in was Balaji who had a great life today with as many as 4 edges going to the boundary. Balaji happily swung his bat for 23 valuable runs as Pathan at the other end batted well. But again Astle, who bowled very well today, induced the edge off Pathan's bat and the second slip fielder made no mistake!

indianscorecard8vk.jpg

The Indian batting card makes it pathetic reading. No top order batsmen applied themselves on this wicket which itself is a nightmare. If it were not for Pathan and Balaji, India would have been bowled out for less than 150 and would have placed them in the most precarious position ever. New Zealand now hold the ace going into bat and if they can get past the Indian total with no more than 4 to 5 wickets lost, they should hold the advantage to get a big lead and put India out of this match! But they should remember that they are still playing on a first day green pitch!

Superb performance from the home side. India dont enjoy playing in NZ conditions, and this is why.

But India played really well in the triseries, so I think its a bit too early to make a judgement now.

Thats a great performance by NZ but an equally bad performance by India......This is not how they should be playing after almost winning the triseries

If India can restrict New Zealand to a score less than 200, the match can get a new interesting twist. Now New Zealand are easily ahead! Lets see how the rest of Day 1 goes!

Pathan strikes for India first ball of the innings!

FIRST BALL OF THE INNINGS - SINCLAIR BOWLED!
I.Pathan 1/4

What a dramatic start to New Zealand's first innings? Pathan, who opened the attack for India bowled a stunning yorker first up and Sinclair was beaten all ends up by the pace and the seam off the delivery to be bowled for nought. It was the first ball of the innings and India couldnt have hoped for a better start to the innings.

Astle is not out on 4* while Fleming is yet to open his account.

Not at all a good batting by india...just disgusting

cool down buddy. the wicket is also playing poor here. New Zealand also not playing well.

Hazardous wicket for batting!

Hazardous wicket for batting!

New Zealand 22/4
N.Astle 18

A hazardous wicket for batting and a very poor advertisement for test cricket from the New Zealand cricket board. So far, 14 wickets have fallen within the first two sessions and one fears that one might even see a result within the first day itself making this the shorter ever test match in the history of test cricket. Replying to India's 161, New Zealand are reeling at 22/4 with Astle, Fleming, Sinclair and Styris back in the pavilion. Fleming was out caught at slip by Dravid off Zaheer Khan

nzflemingout6dn.jpg

Next out was Styris who was given LBW off the bowling of Zaheer Khan. The decision was a good one considering that the ball was in line with the off stump.

nzstyrisout3fb.jpg

The 4th wicket to fall was that of Astle. Astle was beginning to prosper with a few boundaries which he scored off Khan. But Pathan stuck when he bowled a seaming ball that moved in and trapped Astle plumb in front of his wicket. Astle walked back disappointed having scored only 18 when he promised even more

nzastleout7hc.jpg

Now, the Indian total of 161 looks huge in comparison. This makes it a very bad advertisement for test cricket. Test cricket should be saved from such pitches but this is the third time the New Zealand board is preparing such a pitch on an Indian tour.
