West Indies in Australia

At least Clarke is learning his trade. He now knows how to play in India, England and NZ. Hopefully the next time he goes to these places he does better.

people keep seem to be looking right now in the present. if you drop clarke from the side he will learn nothing and in 3 or 4 years time when the current batsmen retire he will come into the team exactly how he is now. in 4 or 5 years he will be the steve waugh of the side. steve waugh started out very extravagent like clarke. i wouldnt be suprised if he curves his attacking game for the long form of the game.

No, he'll spend 3 or 4 years in domestic cricket actually getting a decent technique and learning to value his wicket, as it is now we're just going to be stuck with a mediocre hack for the next 15 years

I dont doubt that clarke wont become a great player, it just pisses me off with the likes of Hussey, Hodge and love (just to name a few), who have spent countless years on proving what they have, just to be swept aside for clarke, who really hadn't prove much at all. They might aswell just drop every single player and put in young guys so Australia can be undefeatable in 10 years time.

For starters you know how hard it has been top get in the Australian side, and the selectors want one young guy in there, whether its clarke or someone else, I agree we need atleast one young Batsman.

Thats the reason Clarke was picked ahead of Hodge. Its just a shame guys like Hussey and Hodge came on the scene at the time they did. Any other decade and they would be in the side.

I do agree we need to look to the future, it just annoys me that there are better players that arnt in the team, i hope clarke can score some runs and put doubt about him in the minds of others to rest.

Yeah man it's a shame, but we need to have the best team possible while letting the odd young guy try come through for us as well. I can't imagine how hard it is for the selectors, they need to be persisant with Clarke or pick another batsman to try blood.

I would be pissed to if I was performing like hodge/hussey has lately but they weren't picked because the selectors Pick a young 24 or so year old because of youth, but when it comes down to it, we need that 1 youthful player.

If that player is not Clarke then who do you guys think probably Deserves that 1 youthful spot?

They should be feilding the best side, dosnt matter if there 20 or 40, the best players should be in the national side, they should worry about the young guys improving there skill in first class, let the big boys play :D

I kind of Agree but the problem is with all our current players are of similar age, and because of that when they all retire we'll have to field a team of players with no Experience at Test or ODI level. We don't want that, we want to have someone good enough to fill a retireds players spot.

Phil Jaques should get a go, played as many First class games as clarke and averages 15 more runs, or david hussey similar average, who else?

hodgey (just because his cousin goes to my school and is a legend), david hussey is too old and his technique isnt sound enough for international level its too loose, husseys is compact which is perfect, adam voges will be a player of the future

We don't need a real young guy, someone about 25-26 at the most, someone who can be there 3-4 years after when a few of the older players retire.
