West Indies in England

nah hes a big spastic... i still find it amazing that no england bowler averages under 30
Simon Jones has a test match bowling average of 28.23, so bowlers with an average of less than 30 have played for England in recent years.

Does anyone else feel lords is now a batting paradise, boring flat pitches.

The 2 tests it had in 06 both ended in draws, there are many declarations now adays and surviving seems easier.

yup lord is too flat..as are most the Test pitches in England..

probly as a result of the last WI tour where games were only lasting 3-4 days..

now each team could bat for 3days on their own

boring not good for cricket imho

But is that really a good sign... honestly. Everybody dumps on Brett Lee but he is just as good as Harmison & Hoggard if not better

I agree. Long term cricket fans may appreciate a test match being played on a pitch like the one at Lord's, but a person trying to become interested in the sport is likely to be turned off in my opinion.

I don't think the pitch is all that dead. I just think that both sides have bowled really badly (seamers not spinners). It was only two years ago that Harmison and McGrath caused havoc on the first day at Lords.

Shame the rain has probably finished this very interguing game off!

Lords is too flat imo, but it does create interesting matches, with teams having to get their decleration right and the speed of which they bat correct also...

The trouble with Lord's in terms of preparation is that smart bowling makes the pitch seem sharper than it is, so give a little extra movement to Glenn McGrath, for example, and you get a much shorter match than you were expecting. However, that's also the great thing about Lord's.

(at school) I reckon it's going to be a draw, England have played well, batted well at least, West Indies have battled well though

i have to say Prior has surpised me

Well Bad light basically finishes off the game. Plunkett bowled well today and Harmison was ok. Need to improve the seam department before 2nd test...

In my opinion, statistics are overused in cricket. A bowling average is not a true indication of how good a bowler is.
It is a shame to see play has been stopped by rain at the moment. The weather is merely overcast where I live.

Sobers averaged 34, that probably proves your point.

Well to be fair, Plunket and Harmisson have bowled well. Monty was a bit to costly first 3 overs 13 off them, Plunkets bouncers were amazing
