West Indies in England

I find it laughable people suggesting Broad will have more control than Plunkett. Granted he is a very talented bowler but he has a First Class economy only .11 lower than Plunkett's and Plunkett has played tests. Broad should be given more time to work on his game, with the odd one-dayer or test to give him a gradual introduction to the International arena.

I'm actually becoming more convinced by Sidebottom. Although his inclusion undermines the Performance squad, he should offer good control judging by his first class economy and even his Test economy. He should be good short-term but beyond this series I have my doubts.

Plunkett is a fantastic bowler and should be picked ahead of Mahmood, not because he offers more control but you can see the class he has. Every so often he'll bowl an absolute beauty - his bowled efforts against Gilchrist and Gayle for example. Whether we can afford to have a poor Harmison and him is a different matter though.

chanderpaul misses out for the West Indies !

thats a HUGE BLOW for them..

I think that Broad does have better control than Plunkett. In the last 12 months Plunkett has shown that at times he can as wayward as Harmison can be. Plunkett does not control the swing of a ball very well and it's often pot luck. On his day, he can control a ball, but when it's not his day, he can have dreadful control.

I feel someone like Broad, who genuinely has very good control, you only have to have seen his performances in the 20Twenty's and other OD competitions to see, would be the beter of the two options.
I feel that Broad does have much better control, it's just because Broad has played a lot less cricket at all levels than Plunkett has, so sometimes Broad can show his inexperience and drop a couple short or too full. Broad just neeeds to get used to playing more Adult cricket.
You have to remember that before last season, he had only really played league and age group cricket. In age group cricket, even at county level you can get a way with a hell of a lot of poor bowling, simply because not many batsman come into their own until they're a little older, bigger and wiser in their own game.

Strauss gone, Caught behind there. Cook and Struass needed to develop a big partnership. Anyway lets see how Vaughan goes.

Into the fire now for Vaughan.
Hope he gets a score, just because if he doesn't the press are going to come down so hard on him.

i still don't htink they shoudl have picked him.. bt he's done ok..

England really starting to motor here..

scored 100 runs in 80 mins since lunch.

The best thing about Vaughans knock, is that he hasn't looked in touch at all.
There's much more to come from him.

about 130 runs in tha session..

unless WI make some major inroads Eng will be 350+ by close..

which means they're gonan be bating for a draw again..

on the Broad discussion,he can put the ball where he wants it 9 times out of 10 whilst Plunkett can spray the ball about far more,I don't think either of them are ready for test cricket yet though. Great to see Vaughan making runs, thing is we already knew he was a brilliant test match batsmen, I hope Moores can get the best out of him in ODI's now. England are doing well :D

Fantastic knock by Vaughan! Absolute vintage Michael Vaughan it was. Truely great comeback. Pietersen also plays a complete vintage knock. 300-3 at current time and 350 should be on the cards at end of the days play :D

Fantastic to see Vaughan back in the runs again, that will cement his place for a bit.
