West Indies in England

fact is england wont have impotant matches after the indian series,
if he can bowl a few overs then let him but the schedule after the indian series will easily allow him to rest and get ready for lanka series

im sure the 20/20 world cup isnt as important as the indian series

And no, the Indians won't be battering us this summer. You seem to forget that we haven't lost a home series since 2001 and that was against the World Champions in full cry....

I can see a 2-1 in the Tests to England. BUT, Freddie could be a great loss since India do not like the pace and bounce he brings. India must look to simply accumilate the runs and pick the many bad balls that the English bowlers will dish up and look to survive that odd peach from Plunkett or Hoggard, the one that spins from Monty and the 90mph throat tearer from Harmison.

Speaking of which, I think Hoggard will (if he is fit of course) be the best bowler in the series since he is a consistant swinging bowler and rarely has a shocking spell whatsoever. I think he could truly hinder India's plan to carefully accumilate a large first innings lead.

I really would like a low scoring contest where that ground out Vaughan fifty or Dravid fifty is the difference rather than scoring under 450 means you lose.

Sarwan home, Samuels on his way

Ramneresh Sarwan has saftley arrived home in Guyana today and Marlon Samuels of Jamaica, is now on his way to replace him. His should play in the match against MCC on friday.

Guys my heart and brain says....good days for eng will start...they will start playing good cricket after very disappointing last 1 year...They will compeley trash WI and then they will beat IND 2-0 in Tests and will beat them 3-2 in ODI's.

Samuels should have been there from the start he is better than Morton

I am pretty sure it was for non-cricketing reasons, and that is why I am slightly surprised he is the replacement. I was pretty sure it would be Ryan Hinds...who is in England at the moment I think.

I like Morton and his "colourful past"! :p

Not everyone would think of leaving Sri Lanka by pretending that their grandmother has died - and then stabbing their cousin a year and a half later!

So any changes for the 3rd test at Old Trafford?

I assume Hoggard comes back in. Can we drop Sidebottom? Or would Plunkett miss out? I personally don't think we need a No.8 against this attack.

I still don't like the idea of playing both Hoggard and Sidebottom. It wouldn't be the end of the world for me if they played but i'd like to see Sidebottom out of Hoggard come in. Don't know who to replace him with though; That's the problem. I'd say Anderson but it's a gamble playing him when we don't know how he's going play.

Hogard has had setback, and is mostly likely gonna miss the next test..

no that it matters, the West Indies are hopeless

Not that Hoggard will play, but I don't see what the problem is. Harmison and Plunkett's combined inaccuracy seems to be much more of a liability.

Hoggard and Sidebottom are too similar, which is why when he's fit, Hoggard comes back in for Sidebottom.

Too similar?

You've never seen them play together (at least not since Sidebottom left Yorks).

They are both swing bowlers, that's all I see that is the same. Sidebottom is very effective in the shorter game, is more accurate imo and gets slightly more bounce.

There is room for both.

When one's a right hander and the other's a leftie, how the hell are they the same ?! Very slightly similar as they rely on swing as Sureshot said, but apart from that.....

well if they drop a player after he took 8(?) wickets in the previous test, then all hope is lost for me. What would it do to Sidebottom's confidence?

If taking this many wickets cannot ensure some sort of run in the side, then they shouldn't have recalled him.

I agree with your later post, there is possibly room for both players in the side
