West Indies in England

If they drop Sidebottom it will prove that no changes have been made to English cricket, they should be rewarding players for good performances not letting them stay after doing half a job e.g. Ashley Giles

Too true - what more could he have done on his debut? If they drop him then I'll be really annoyed...

it wasnt his debut but i see your point

Agreed, Sidebottom should be the first name on the teamsheet bowling wise. He has shown what he is all about and knows his game through and through, something which Plunkett and Harmison seem to be lacking. The point about not being able to play both Hoggard and Sidebottom in the same side is not right, as even if Hoggard plays I don't think it will stop him troubling the West Indies and vice versa.

yeh i think he would have been just as nervous as before if not more because it was a 2nd chance

well if they drop a player after he took 8(?) wickets in the previous test, then all hope is lost for me. What would it do to Sidebottom's confidence?

If taking this many wickets cannot ensure some sort of run in the side, then they shouldn't have recalled him.

I agree with your later post, there is possibly room for both players in the side

Get both in. It's been a while since we've had two reliable opening bowlers in either form.

Did anyone spot me in the crowd at Headingly in fancy dress? I was on quite a bit dressed with my superhero friends.

Calling Sidebottom reliable after one test match is a big statement! Ok! He bowled well, and consistantly. But lets see how reliable he is over a period of time first.

James I was basing it on his performances in the CC for the last 3-4 seasons. Where he has been a consistent bowler. He's not the kind to go wayward (Aka, Plunkett, Saj, Harmison).

Test Cricket is a much higher standard than the CC. (except WI and bangla)

Good line weve got, and i think its a great test team. Cook hit 100 for essex in FP, and is most probably out best onform batsmen with others hitting good. Lets not write West Indies off just yet, Ramdin hit 100 against MCC and they got a decent score but there just not up there against some of the best teams in the world, There's potentiol but its not opening up in a way.

A couple of Young West Indies.
Viv Richard's lad opened the bowling I believe, Mali Richards.

I could have scored runs against that MCC line-up!

Can't wait for Thursday. I don't have an exam then so I can actually catch the first day's play for the first time in a while.
