All Time ODI Cricket Draft <---Shravis uppp

Too premature for me. Hasn't done nearly enough yet to be included in an all time XI. He's only just found his feet.

Well he adds good balance to my team.

Anyways it's not like there are many batsmen left that are a good 5th bowling option.

Akhtar is a good pick, I'll admit that but he couldn't sustain it.
Marshall wasn't anywhere near as devastating in ODI cricket as he was in Test cricket. Dennis on the other hand adapted much better to the format.
Imran Khan. I'm not going to lie. I would have loved to have had him in my team. Second best ODI all rounder, and you have the first.
Flintoff, good all rounder but I think he weakens your batting line up as you already have Imran in the top 5. Two batsmen with an average below 35 in the top 7 doesn't make for good reading.

Akhtar was one of the better pure quick bowlers left when I picked him, and his ODi record is pretty exceptional.
Marshall in the years I listed was exceptional. Just took a little while to get into ODi cricket, and had a tough last year.
As for Flintoff. I've moved him upto #5 in the order. Flintoff relishes batting up the order, and his numbers prove it. At Number 5 he has 1749 runs at an average of 46.02 with 3 centuries. Flintoff also suffers from being picked way too early. He showed a couple of signs of class, but it wasn't until 2003 when he was an International class player. Since then he's scored 2547 runs at 35.87 and taken 133 wickets at 22.96 and averages 46.02 batting at number 5 in that period. Hugely under-rated all-rounder AFAIC.

Bugger. I wanted Watto.

is it actually my go?

Probably should be worrying more about bowlers.

I'll go with

Daniel Vettori

for his batting, bowling and beard

Jayasuriya
Ganguly
Dean Jones
Vettori
Allan Donald

Have another one I reckon Stinky, catching up for last round :) Otherwise you'll be 2 players down on everyone else.

Then it'll be:
7.5 Gazza
7.6 shravi
7.7 Cricketman
7.8 sifter

Agree with TumTum here on Watson. I know when I was looking for an all-rounder I particularly wanted a balanced one so I could play 4 other proper bowlers, and still have him batting well in the top 7 somewhere. If Lance Klusener hadn't been there, Watson was my 2nd choice. Yes 2nd choice! I think he's better with bat than Imran or Flintoff and he's better with the ball than Kallis to me. He may not be better overall, but I really like the way he balances a team.

There's only one guy with a better batting average minus bowling average than Watson in ODI history: Kallis.
Kallis has 45.74 with bat - 32.01 with ball = 13.73
Watson has 40.64 with bat - 27.87 with ball = 12.77
then it's Viv Richards and Klusener:
Viv has 47.00 with bat - 35.83 with ball = 11.17
Klusener has 41.1 with bat - 29.95 with ball = 11.15

Ahh come on, do we have to wait another 24 hours for Stinky to make his second pick now? I think he's gone to bed by now.

Cricketman has updated the first post with my help. This is how it stands.

Num and Cricketman both make 1 pick each at the end of round 11 while Stinky makes 2.

Yeah we need to keep going. We can give stinky a double pick next round, or we can just forget it and add it onto round 12.

Oh and I ran the random order for the last rounds too, so add it to the frontpage cricketman please:
8.1 sifter
8.2 Cricketman
8.3 shravi
8.4 Gazza
8.5 Stinky
8.6 TumTum
8.7 Num
8.8 King Pietersen

Round 9
9.1 Gazza
9.2 TumTum
9.3 Num
9.4 sifter
9.5 King Pietersen
9.6 shravi
9.7 Cricketman
9.8 Stinky

Round 10
10.1 Stinky
10.2 Cricketman
10.3 shravi
10.4 King Pietersen
10.5 sifter
10.6 Num
10.7 TumTum
10.8 Gazza

Round 11
11.1 num
11.2 stinky
11.3 tumtum
11.4 cricketman
11.5 King pietersen
11.6 shravi
11.7 sifter
11.8 Gazza

Round 12 (Missed pick catch up)
12.1 Cricketman
12.2 Num
12.3 stinky
12.4 stinky

So go for it Gazza, this is pick 7.5.

ok, haha, this feels anarchic.

I'm having aravinda de silva as well.

I reckon he was under-rated as an ODI player, still scored a heep of runs.

his natural innovation was well suited to the format and he lends a touch of class, was by no means an awful part time bowler either.

Jayasuriya
Ganguly
De Silva
Dean Jones
Vettori
Allan Donald

It's not your turn right now though... You already got Daniel Vettori in this round. You were supposed to make your 2 missed picks at the end of round 11. I guess I don't mind because he wasn't going to be in my team but we did make an order and you missed 2 picks... Sorry if this sounds picky and downright evil. I don't mean it to be.

So I guess we can make Aravinda become Stinky's 8th round pick? He just won't be picking until the last pick of round 9 then. That sound right guys?

Sorry if I mislead you a few hours back by saying you could have another pick.

sifter132 added 6 Minutes and 12 Seconds later...

oh and should add - Aravinda is a great pick. As you mention he was also a handy bowler, so he was one of my targets to add some bowling depth. And of course he could bat a bit too :D
