COIN TOSS

Ricky Ponting and Andrew Flintoff at the Coin Toss

Mark Nicholas:I'm here with Ricky Ponting who has just won the toss and elected to bat first. What made you want to bat first Ricky?

Ricky Ponting:Well there was no real main reason that we elected to bat first. Its pretty even, the pitch and it will give a bit to both teams so we just want to go and get some runs on the board

Mark Nicholas: So any interesting changes to the line up Ricky?

Ricky Ponting:Well Stuart Clark is in the squad and Mitch Johnson and Shaun Tait are the 2 players left out. Stueys really looking forward to this test and so is the whole team

Mark Nicholas: Well thanks Ricky. Now I'll just move over to Andrew Flintoff. Now Andrew, you're dissapointed about the way the toss went I guess

Andrew Flintoff:Yes well we would have liked to have a bat but we're happy to put the pressure on for the first session. Hopefully Harmy will be able to get some early wickets

Mark Nicholas:So any major changes in the England lineup Andrew?

Andrew Flintoff::Well Hoggard, Giles and Cook are the unlucky men for us who have to miss out. Were going for the same squad we had in the Tour game against South Australia.

Mark Nicholas:Well thanks Ricky and thanks Andrew, good luck to you both. Its going to be a great match

may be dropped like how they were ready to drop Martyn in real life ;)

Well, England hve performed well so far.. They shd be able to create some threatens here i guess!

Good luck for both the teams! :)

well this is going to be close, but with the aussies batting first they have to be favourites

strong aussie side, with the inclusion of watson will give them the 5th bowler element

At Lunch Day 1 Australia are in a commanding position at 1/113. The only wicket to fall was Langer, who edged a great ball by Harmison behind to the keeper for 21. The 2 batsmen at the crease Hayden (52*) and Ponting (37*). The next session should see Panesar start to bowl

PONTING NEARS CENTURY

Ricky Ponting is 88 not out at Tea on day 1. Australia are 3/221 in there first innings. Englands bowlers have been crushed by the Aussie batsmen. Only 2 wickets were picked up in the 2nd session. They were the wickets of Hayden and Martyn. Michael Clarke is the other not out batsmen on 27. England will need someone to stand up and take some wickets to get England back in with a chance of winning
