Ponting going strong! Once again neatly presented!

PONTING SHOWS ENGLAND WHY HE IS ONE OF THE BEST IN THE WORLD

Australia are 4/313 at Stumps on Day 1. Ricky Ponting was the best of the batsmen, making 149 today. It was a brilliant captains knock. The bowlers struggled today but Harmison was the best with 2 wickets. It was a hard day for England so they will need early wickets tommorow to keep them in the match

END OF DAY WRAP UP SHOW WITH MARK TAYLOR AND IAN CHAPPEL

Mark Taylor

Mark Taylor: Hello and welcome to "After Stumps" I'm Mark Taylor and alongside me is Ian Chappell

Ian Chappell

Ian Chappel: Hi Mark. We have a great show in store for you today. We have Ricky Ponting coming to chat to us about his brilliant innings today and later in the show we have Ian Botham about how England can improve. Now Mark its been an interesting day out there, whats your opinion about how its went.

Mark Taylor: Well first of I thought that Ricky Ponting was brilliant. He played shots all around the ground and was helped thanks to some cameos from Michael Clarke and Matty Hayden.

Ian Chappel: Yes he was great. The England bowlers weren't at there best today though. Hopefully they will get better as the test go on.

Mark Taylor: I have here Ricky Ponting, fresh from his magnificent innings today. Now Ricky how do you feel about the teams positions at the moment and your batting in particular?

Ricky Ponting: Thanks Mark. Well I think our top order has set us up well for the rest of the match so hopefully we can get to 500 tommorow and let our bowlers at the England top order. And also you asked about my batting, well i thought i batte great today. I felt great and I never felt like I was going to be stoped. My goal for tommorow is to hopefully get to 200.

Ian Chappel: Great performance today, how do you feel Stuart Clark with bowl tommorow?

Ricky Ponting: I hope he can help the rest of the bowlers knock over there top order, he's in great form and he has really earnt this oportunity.

Mark Taylor: Its been a great plesure having you Ricky and we are now joined by Nassar Hussain. Now Nassar how can can England improve for tommorow?

Nassar Hussain: Thanks Mark. Well first of they need wickets, obviously. Flintoff has been trying his heart out but with no prevail and Steve Harmison has taken two wickets, but it hasn't been enough. They will need a good opening partnership when they go in to bat and with the form some of there batsmen are in I thick you might be looking at a big score by England.

Ian Chappel: Well wo should they look at for the next test if none of the bowlers can spark a turn around.

Nassar Hussain: Well Giles and Hoggard. Hoggard was unlucky to be picked, I went down and watched him in the nets this morning and he is bowling well enough to deserve to play

Mark Taylor: Thanks Nassar, its been great having you and we'll speak to you tommorow. That end our show. We hoped you enjoyed it and we'll see you tommorow.

Australia in commanding position! Once again Harmison taking 3 wickets.. he is looking good in this series.. but Engald have let Aussies to score more runs!

This is good for the aussie, looking at about 450 but if the tail end can stick around maybe even 500 is on the board
