Australia Tour Of India 2012/13

Australia confidence will be so high in this series as they have defeated WI 5-0 but i hope they dont rotate too much this time

Wonder what some ppl thought pushing Sachin and Sehwag down the order.
Rahane & Sehwag must open, followed by Pujara, Tendulkar, Kohli and MSD. Harbhajan, Ashwin, Ojha and two quicks in Ishant and Bhuvaneshwar/Dinda.
We seriously need 5 proper bowlers, and not Jadeja who gets selected as a batsman in one series and as a bowler in the next. Vijay (not impressed with his selection) and Dhawan gotta wait.
And most importantly, get in Raina and Jaffer for last 2 Tests at least, and Gambhir too if he performs well for India A match.

Are you serious? Jaffer is a tried and tested failure at International level. We are looking at long term solutions. Why bring in someone that is older than Sehwag and Gambhir. Even if Jaffer does succeed at International level, even outside India, it will not last more than a year, or two, at best. This is not the time for stop-gap-solutions. That is just ignoring the problem altogether, and ignoring the much needed long-term changes that need to be made.

Sehwag is still in the team when he had a worse series than Gambhir vs England. Doesn't make sense. Both of them should be dropped.

The man has gone back to the drawing room, made some changes in his technique and domestically averages far better than any other person. Then, why should he be singled out ? Just cause he is 35 ?

Even if people perform as stop-gap solutions,we ought to try them out. He might as well play for the next 2-3 years too.

M Vijay
S Dhawan
C Pujara
V Kohli
V Sehwag
S Tendulkar
M Dhoni
H Singh
B Kumar
I Sharma
P Ojha

Having a batsman like Ashwin who is not as good as Sehwag when Sehwag can bowl as useful an off spin as Ashwin doesn't make sense. Same with Jadeja. Sehwag can bowl useful offspin and can double up as the 5th bowler. And a middle order slot might just be the tonic for Sehwag to extend his international career by a few more years.
I can't believe that you finally agree that Ashwin deserves to be sacked. :thumbs

And the lineup you posted is the most unrealistic one for the first test. There is no chance the Vijay will get a game and Viru will bat in the middle order. And there is equally no chance for Sachin batting at a position other than 4.

I know my lineup won't be picked most probably, but in my opinion, it would be an ideal lineup. Sehwag in the middle order and Tendulkar lower down the middle order can help India and both these players concerned. If Tendulkar has to be in the team, he has to move around and let other pivotal players take the pivotal slots. Kohli needs to move in at 4. I believe Vijay will get a game ahead of Dhawan for sure.

I said this recently too that Ashwin has disappointed me in test cricket against the big teams. He is not that good a batsman to be picked on batting alone.

Wish both our regular "openers" would've been dropped, but meh, I'll take it.

1. Virender Sehwag
2. Shikhar Dhawan
3. Cheteshwar Pujara
4. Sachin Tendulkar
5. Virat Kohli
6. Ajinkya Rahane
7. MS Dhoni
8. Ravichandran Ashwin
9. Bhuvneshwar Kumar
10. Ishant Sharma
11. Pragyan Ojha

That would be my XI, but I just get the feeling Dhoni might go for a lefty at #6 and we all know who that lefty will be... :facepalm

Oh, another thing, terribly bad against top opposition Ashwin > terrible bad against all opposition Harbhajan. :p

Your line-up is great, Epic. However, the two debatable spots are definitely Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane, wherein I believe they will 200% be replaced by the CSK stars-Murali and RJ.

As for RJ, the case is positive in his favor given that he has been useful as a tweaker. His batting though has been a let-down. How I wish Rahane could spin the ball as well !

Dhawan getting a game-the probability is nearer to zero. Vijay would get in for sure. Like the trend has been over the past 2 years, our bench strength will warm the benches and I'd be surprised if they make it to the XI.

I don't understand all the Jadeja hate. Sure, early on he was not performing, but of late he has become one of the most valuable members of the Indian team. The only reason I do not see a place for him in the top 7 is that India's batting is already weak or massively under-performing. Also, Dhoni has not contributed enough runs in tests to justify the selection of another player who averages 30 or below in the top 7.

Yes, I have heard a lot about Parvez Rassol. Has been on the selectors radar. They have classified him as an AR, but I still unsure about his batting prowess and overall talent with 17 games.

I must also add that this sin't the entire Aussie line-up. The next practice game will give an indication of how the Aussies fare against spin.

I have heard that he is a decent bowler who can bat a bit but 7 wickets is a bit of shocker. Yes, it is not the best Australian lineup but he still managed to get out likes of Cowan, Khawaja and Smith. I am pretty sure 2 out of those 3 will feature in their final 11.

Friends, don't forget important Australian members are yet to come in India. The current AUS team against Board President XI can be called "Australia A"

Parvez Rasool perform or not, I am sure RJ will disappoint us, if given chance. :facepalm

Australia's real squad will give clear picture when Clarke and Co come to India, and will play against India A, headed by Gauti :thumbs

Right but that Board President XI was no where near even India B standard. You got to give credit to Rassol.

I completely agree with Jadeja part.
