Australia Tour Of India 2012/13

I'm not sure, india lacked intensity in the second innings of the last test when they were finishing off australia. I'd have liked to see them get that wicket, of course you wouldn't back your last two batsmen to pick up many runs especially when almost none of the guys before them had either, but you never know, pattinson and docherty might have just got into a groove and frustrated the indian bowlers.

Good point that, we always tend to struggle to pick up that one last wicket...

Terrible declaration. The logic is totally flawed, and I think Clarke may just have been frustrated. If they wanted to declare they should've at least hit out...it makes absolutely no sense to defend for 2 overs and then declare! Besides, as mentioned above, it's highly likely that they'd have put together at least another 10-15 runs given India's inability to finish the tail off.

Agree completely. Anyone think Australia has 400 on the board

it was one of those half and half decisions of faux aggression. three overs, a wicket was possible I guess but with only 3 overs to defend the batsmen were hardly in the position of being unsure as to how to handle that. just leave and defend everything (good old sehwag couldn't resist slamming a four away though) if you're declaring that situation you want to give your bowlers a proper go, not a little tester.

when you've only got 230 on the board 20 runs makes a difference too. aussies 2nd best partnership of the last match was for the 10th wicket, sure it was two tail enders and not henriques but still, see what happens. being in a nothing to lose situation is usually pretty good in test cricket.

Didn't catch much today, but looks like there was something in it for the quicks. Will reserve judgement on the pitch for a couple more days though.

Doherty for Lyon seems a bit of a joke, but then we are known for gambling and the situation probably warrants it. He seems to either take a bagful of wickets or do absolutely nothing from what I've seen in the shorter formats.

Maxwell or Smith in for Starc, didn't really care too much either way, but Maxwell was unexpected. Maybe if Henriques had failed last test it would've been a different story, but Henriques and Smith could've made a handy middle-lower order partnership as they've shown for NSW. Throw O'Keefe in there too. Batting real deep is the go :thumbs

I hope Australia lose by a couple of wickets now. Absolute stupidity. I know Clarke likes this tag of innovative captain, but sometimes there's innovations for innovations sake.

Should send Two Night watchmen.

Going by the current form, they did send the night watchmen. Excellent bowling by Bhuvi at the start and Sirji also did well. There is something for fast bowlers so we have to post a good total and Michael Clarke is a beast.

BTW, Ishant Sharma has been horrible. Time to bring Sreesanth back :D

Oh my god, what a brilliant day for Indian bowlers !!! :cheers

SIR ji rocked again, and my favourite Bhuvi once again showed what he is capable of, I think AUS might miss Starc here if spinners failed... :D

The terrible decision of the day was off course DECLARING by Clarke, I'm sure AUS could have piled up around 250, if not declared :facepalm

Clarke might have made things easier for India here with that "so-called aggressive move". India have often failed to finish the opposition off, especially their final few wickets. And by declaring with 1 wicket yet to take, Australia and Clarke have said "Ok, we are doing you a favor here. Go out and bat".

Very good stuff from Bhuvaneshwar and Jadeja. Especially good to see Jadeja come good here. Bhuvaneshwar seems a handful when he gets even a tiny bit of purchase off the wicket. And being a useful bat too, he should probably be on that plane to South Africa.

They might have even made 275.

He has been extremely mediocre.Except a few odd deliveries,he hasn't troubled the batsmen at all. Also, there is a reason for everything. He is not an unlucky bowler as people call him.As a bowler, its your job to produce edges. Some commentators were talking some time ago about how he needs to bowl a little fuller as the length he usually bowls, doesn't tend to produce edges.

As in his case,if one bowls a peach and follows it up with a million loose deliveries, you are not unlucky. He is so experienced too that it is nearly funny how he hasn't matured enough in his already long enough test career.

From that legendary spell in Perth,he has been one of India's most picked disappointments.

I don't really know how Srisanth's form is at the moment.I am strictly against playing him in Odis but didn't he bowl exceptionally well in SA a few years back?

Certainly could be worth a try on SA tour or even in this series in Mohali, where he would get some assistance from the pitch.

I like most of what you've said, just wanted to focus on this statement. Monty's rep NOW is a lot better than it was 6 months ago. Hindsight is a beautiful thing. 6 months ago, Monty had played 1 successful Test series in his last 4 years - the 2 Tests he played vs Pakistan in UAE. He was hardly a proven Test bowler. He was potentially going to be a factor in the India series, but if he truly was a proven Test bowler he would have been playing in the 1st Test. I don't think many England fans expected the type of returns that Monty gave them.

Panesar became a proven solid test bowler since his performances in Pakistan & Sri Lanka last year. So come the India series, although England set out the initial bowling attack with a 3 quicks + Swann strategy, if the situation had arrived where ENG had to consider playing two spinners or replacing Swann in case of injury - most ENG fans would have been very comfortable with Panesar being able to step in and do well.

Of course no one would have expected Panesar to step up so superbly, however obviously in comparison to Doherty no AUS fan right now can have any semblance of confidence in him making an impact in this test match in India conditons based on his FC record, previous horror test match & international performances.

.....Anyway i see the AUS selectors went ahead & picked Doherty & certainly outdid themselves with the balance of the team.:facepalm JESUS CHRISTT!!!...this selection is so dumb even i couldn't have thought about this one.

If i haven't lost faith in Inverarity, Arthur & the other selectors by no i'm at the end of my tether with them. They are doing a superb job in the last few months out do the Hilditch era of selectors.

I have no hope for AUS in this test match, they need a miracle to save it. I cringe at what the Indian batsmen will do to Doherty & Maxwell now. Pattinson & Siddle might be bowled into the ground even if they bowl well as a duo.

AUS cricket have many talented players, but more & more their ability to step & improve across all formats ever since the glory era ended after the 2007 Ashes & world cup wins has been undermined by stupid selectors & their brainless selections. :facepalm:mad

Congratulations to India a few days in advance for going 2-0 up & moving one step closer to taking back the Border-Gavaskar trophy.

How can India retain the BG trophy when Australia are the current holders? We need to win this series to get the BG trophy.

I am not overconfident. India have this tendency to drop guard after a win. And this wicket has something in it (esp. In the mornings) for the quicks. If Pattinson and Siddle can rock us in the 1st session tomorrow, Australia will still be in a very good position this game.
