Australia tour of India (Feb '17/Mar '17)

The frequent injuries to Starc bothers me. Obviously he would be working hard to strengthen the brittle parts of his body but I hope Cricket Australia gives him time to recover fully. Getting back to international cricket when your fitness level is not 100% can be dangerous. One bad blow and your career is curtailed. I wish that doesn't happen to Starc. Shami has been injured too many times too. He too needs to get it right. They are the two bowlers I really enjoy watching them bowl.

The problem is that people like you and me can manage work loads better than these chaps. The amount of cricket these days is ridiculous. A bowler of Starc's repute and calibre should only play tests, ICC events and may be the BBL and IPL if he needs more money. I see his participation in pointless ODI's and T20's as a waste of energy to his mind and body in particular. Hell, I would even make sure he plays tests where he's needed and not dead rubbers and pointless tests.

He will get thrashed all over the park... I would prefer Cummins rather who isn't in the tour... Big blow for Aussies.
He will be more successful than any other bowler of Australia especially in these conditions. Cummins ,Pattison are all useless in the subcontinent pitches.
A bowler who can roll his wrist in these kind of pitches are more useful than any other bowlers (Kaprowzic in 2004 tour was pretty good and Broad in the recent test series was the Best English bowler )

So in the same breath Virat should be reprimanded also, shouldnt he?

Btw glad to see youre still active on these boards.

Yeah, if he did anything wrong. I don't think there is any rule about speaking out against a player or a team in the media.

Starc ruled out, shite. Can we please spare Australia the embarrassment and cancel the series already?

It's a pattern tbh. Not saying India are lucky by any means, they're very impressive, but Starc is the third opponent fast bowler (after Steyn and Anderson) to get injured while playing in India.

As for replacements, there's nobody who can replace Starc. Absolutely nobody. Faulkner is the closest Australia have in terms of being useful with both bat and ball but he's light years behind in both departments.

That's obnoxious. Very sad if it's true.

Faulkner and Jackson bird can prove disasters. Australia has to think about someone else. Lets see what pitch comes up in this match. I hope it won't be that spin friendly otherwise O Keffee and Gary can sweep the Indian line-up once again. Starc element is huge but I think Australia would fought hard.

Like I said, for me he's been the MOS so far. But, India are without their spearhead in Shami as well.

Believe it or not I had a funny feeling that Starc might not last the series. It's unfortunate thing to happen and hope it doesn't result in one-sided matches, although I strongly believe that won't be the case.[DOUBLEPOST=1489154112][/DOUBLEPOST]

Spearhead, true. But his loss is not at the same level that Australia will be facing without Starc.

What a JOKE! Like I said, when the Aussies play these mind games, they take pride in it and will be the first to tell you that one should grow a pair and how this is a man's sport. But, as soon as you give them their own doze, they run like scolded dogs with tails tightly tucked in between their legs. Even if, the story is true, Kohli has done something in the heat of the moment or let's use the phrase in fashion lately, a brain fade. What he didn't do, was cheat.

Also, let us not talk about Aussies and the spirit of the game. It's absolutely laughable!! :lol

By the way, any debutants playing the next test for the Aussies? They might need to be given a DRS tutorial! :D

I agree.

To ones who are supporting Smith, let's take it as Smith was under pressure and it was a brain fade from his side. Then how you guys justify other two instances in which they did the same? Brain-fade? My answer is LOL.

The complaint has been withdrawn by the board and it seems that they have mutually come to an conclusion. What BCCI don't want is that another embarrassing situation like the one that happened after West Indies left the series midway few years ago. If any Indian would've done the same then he would've been punished severely after the match got over. The ball tampering by Virat is an example for this. The reason he was spared was because it came to light very late and the duration for filling a case for ball tampering by opposite team was already over.

Just to make few of the fans to shut their mouths, even the former cricketers of AUSTRALIA have supported India and Virat for his actions and have opposed the actions of Smith. The likes of Adam Gilchrist, Michael Clarke etc.. are the few to be named specifically. (Go to twitter and get their message)

Big blow for Australia. Mitch Starc getting injured again and again is a huge concern for the team. He seriously needs complete rest to be 100% fit. I personally feel that he isn't given more time to recover after his injury. A similar player on India is MS. Injury can't be said to arrive at what circumstances. In Mitch Starc's case, he was injured during practice session (correct me if I'm wrong).

What are your thoughts on Virat also breaking the rules?[DOUBLEPOST=1489157505][/DOUBLEPOST]

Typical of Kholi, not surprised at all.

Darn! If India are to beat Australia in the next two tests and win the series, I wished they did it with Australia having Starc. Starc was tough with the ball and bat and its definitely a blow for Australia and a dip in excitement for the series.
