Australia tour of India (Feb '17/Mar '17)

WHAT A CATCH SMITH! AMAZING. Feel bad that he has to put up with such an average team honestly, he deserves much better. It's like a small-scale version of Lara at West Indies.

Varun ? I think he is not international material. I would love to test Sran instead.

He has pace and we know that it is something which should not be discarded so easily. We have all seen the difference that a consistent run has made to Umesh`s test match bowling. Varun was discarded after he was bowling quite well against SA. I watched almost every ball that series and he looked like getting his act together. I would`nt discard him so quickly.

400? A double digit lead would suffice. More than the actual lead itself, it's the psychological effect. Letting India get away at their home will dent the confidence of the Australian players.

Have you accounted for a Smith century in the second innings?

Coming back to this game, its gone south very quickly for us. This game is now essentially a one-inning shootout. With the lead less than 50, I put Australia ahead at the moment. The Yadav partneship got us the wickets in the 1st dig, can they get us another 20-odd runs here just to frustrate the Aussies.

Ashwin will get him in the second innings ;). Also, what a test match this is!

Rahul dropped on 10 (Scored 60)
Saha dropped on 09 (Scored 31)

And India have got a lead of 32 :/
PS: Wade has done a good job as a keeper so far :)

Not sure what to make of this session. On one hand, Australia should be happy that they didn't concede a 100 run lead the way Jadeja was playing. On the other, they could've had a lead themselves had they taken their chances. A 32 run lead could well be very useful here. Important thing for Australia is to not to go into a shell like they've done at times this series, in particular Renshaw and Marsh. Could take a leaf out of Jadeja's book and look to play it smart.

A slender lead of 32 for India.Going to be exicting 2nd innings by both the team.

Smith got 5-6 lives in the Pune test. After that hundred, his confidence has gone through the roof.

I really don't think so. A 75+ lead would have been handy. 32 is just doesn't cut it.

Congratulations Australia. You win the trophy, and I'm 80% sure the series as well because I don't see India chasing more than 120 here.

There is no reason why we should`nt be able to chase 220-odd here. Although, we have`nt got a huge score, the whole lineup contributed in this innings. Except Nair, everyone else has looked comfortable. Plus, Australia have to come out and score the runs here. A wicket or two before the deficit gets wiped out could be sweet. Bhuvi has to be on the mark here and so must our catching.

  • No Kohli - that's a huge psychological disadvantage.
  • The pressure of batting last.
  • Sporting wicket.
  • The added pressure of losing the series and trophy.
  • Batsmen getting starts but not converting them - This will be at the back of the mind of all those who scored in the 1st innings

They all play out in your mind and make you do things which you normally wouldn't (For ex: Playing over-cautiously leading to drying up of runs). A lead of 75 to 100 would have put India in a comfortable position.

Wow! What an over Umesh! Great to see an indian quick troubling aussies.
