Batting and Bowling Nets now available in the Cricket Academy

While bowling i have to keep my eyes on the hud until the ball releases and then have to shift my eyes to the pitch. It's a bit uncomfortable. May be placing the bowling hud somewhere better will decrease this discomfort.

Im pretty sure that HUD will be optional for matches. Still, isnt that where it was in DBC14? Why the issue suddenly?

Isn't helping to make this game better than DBC 14 is the only reason why we are giving inputs? In dbc14 that HUD was huge, which used to cover almost half the screen. But as it was bigger and located just beside the bowler, we didn't have to put most of our concentration on it.
But in DBC 17 it is smaller, which looks better and consumes less display screen but demands more concentration on the HUD. It's like watching a movie with subtitle.

i have given up on watching HUD while bowling, I pull RAS down before the bowler ia about to reach nets and then RAS at 11, 12 or 1 o'clock when the bowler is near wickets, and I assume the batsman is hopping in the crease :lol:lol:lol

im having a few problems with the latest update but i have to say it looks very nice and I'm enjoying making my teams still.
However the problems I'm having are:

as mentioned by others in the nets it's a bit laggy. I did post my laptop specs before in here, and tagged mattw but I don't know if it's my machine.

In the lists (team or player) the x (sort) button doesn't actually sort the lists in any particular order anymore and it's been like his since the 2nd update.

Positives

Love the movement of the nets on ball impact

On the occasions the lag isn't there I really like the feet movement its definatly an improvement on DB14 and I like the new hud on timing etc.
since the update the correlation between LS movement and graphical change is much smoother in the bat editing especially. No lag whatsoever from controller to action if that makes sense.

I think the bowling HUD in DBC14 was great. Nicely positioned ! Its a stress in the Dbc17 nets looking down at something that tiny. I also like the anolog spin controls in 14 !

Lets be honest, we're all turning the bowling hud off anyway when we all start our careers, because we're all bosses and dont need no meter to tell us what to do, right guys?
Bowling meter is a significant aspect of the game. Obviously i don't find any other way of replacing it at this moment. But this meter needs to be located in a better place and in a better way.
Posting a suggestion below. Those circles can be a bit transparent so that it doesn't get in the way of seeing the batsman or the pitch. It needs to be disappeared just after the bowl is released from the hand so that the bowler can have a good look at the ball, and the batsman.

Managed to get the nets running with very little lag by turning everything down and I'm enjoying batting immensely. I'm very happy that the control system carries through from db14 an that the new additions don't add to the difficulty as much as id feared.
Loving the sound off the bat and straight drives smashing into the non strikers end stumps.
Would it be possible to have an option to widen the nets or remove the netting so we have more time to track the ball? If not in an update maybe in the game?

A couple of things:

I would say so far. Please make the hud larger for bowling as it would be better for the casual gamers who like cricket as well. Also please TV camera or bowler camera while batting.

-The ball marker will make the game way easy for the casual and bring down the difficulty found before with the bowling.

-Also it would be nice to see where the regions are full/normal/yorker length.

-moving the marker is way too lose/responsing to my liking. Is there anyway to make to slower.

-An indicator when to move the right thumb stick up and down for the..

Lastly please bring back the crazy awesome filters that were in DBC14. :)

I'm loving the batting. They FINALLY fixed the leg glance - in DB14, if you tried a leg glance, your batsman would take a step towards the offside...thereby opening up your stumps...which is silly. Now, the batsman correctly leans towards the offside a little bit whilst doing a proper leg glance. I also like the new animation for a backfoot glance to point or backward point.

One thing I don't necessarily like is how quickly the batsman (Bradman in this case in the nets) gets up after blocking a shot. Maybe its just for the nets.

I know this is still beta but it looks like BA have put a lot more thought into the batting animations which is excellent. I don't normally bowl but it seems everyone likes it.

The bowling jump timing is the same as in DBC14 - if you could bowl without the meters there, you shouldn't need them here. They are a guide to help you learn the controls - once you've learnt them you can turn it off - with the fall back of the post delivery hud letting you know whether you got your timing right or not afterwards (which you'll also be able to turn off).

I know when I bowl I will look at the bowling hud while selecting the delivery type and then watch the bowler during the run in - the point of the hud being small and out of the way is that you can have it on and not have it distract you when you're not looking at it.

Does anyone know whether the level of flight or bounce selected remains in place for subsequent deliveries or does it need to be re-selected for each ball? Does anyone know what 'Reset' means on the flight-bounce menu and how you access it?
No, you'll need to do that selection each delivery.

Reset is if you go around well past the flight/bounce thing - and allows you to go back to the first screen and pick another delivery.

I saw a question about the rotation direction for spin - but can't find the post -

The rotation direction is basically once you start rotating in one direction you need to complete the rotation in that direction - with either direction being okay initially (even if the hud is showing one particular way, until you start rotating that's only a suggestion).

I think that if people start concentrating on their runup and looking at the foot placement on the crease then bowling becomes very very real; ba have gone to great lengths afaics to have an angle that allows you to really pace the runup as in real life and it is very very well done...

Yes so far i have found for pacers judging by bowler's position easier than in DBC14 though i can't put my finger on why - i think it is a mixture of camera angle and a shadow on the floor being nearly in the right spot for jump :)
