England in Sri Lanka

Good to see England win this series. Sri Lanka looked absolutely horrible all series. Usually they have a huge advantage at home. Goes to show that without Murili they're actually pretty average.

swann out for england.. torn hamstring .

bad luck for him and england

Only grade two. So if we were to pick him in the tests he'd pretty much be ready to play. It's just looking as if he'll miss this final ODI.

Yeh, although if you can get a hamstring at a good time it'd be when a series is wrapped up. Gives Monty a chance to shine, I wonder if he's learnt much from watching Swann?

oh my f**** god all out for 108 thats shocking i a mstill suprise how they won the series. fernando 6 wickets in 8 overs. what the hell is worng with england. they are a team of underachivers.

:D

Post of The Year!

It was poor, I agree, but as Eddie said we won the matches that count. A series win in Sri Lanka and a series win to India, who'd have thought that would happen? Still can take positives out of today, it was only the batting that was poor, the bowling was very good, Monty bowled slower - never mind the figures - he showed he is learning as he slowed down a lot. Sidebottom is excellent again as is Broad. For the test series, why change it? Give Broad a debut? We have to play Sidebottom and Jimmy is hard to leave out.

Sri Lanka do only lose about a quarter of home ODI series, but when Murali goes missing you have to be a bit more convincing to sway the naysayers.

Swann
Sidebottom
Anderson
Panesar

But hang on, Hoggard's fit again yes? If so, Hoggard for Swann.

And for the record, England were hardly convincing winners throughout this series. If Sri Lanka had Murali then i'm 99.99% sure we'd have seen a reversal of the series outcome. We were woeful in both games we lost.

Hoggard's fit but wont have played any cricket since the last test that he played. Thats quite a long lay off, Hoggy, Sidebottom, Jimmy and Montster would be a good quartet though. Harmy's fit aswell and should definetly be in the 15, he showed real improvement towards the end of the test matches. You couldnt leave any of the 3 seamers out though, especially Jimmy and Sidebottom. Here is what my 15 would be:
Cook
Strauss
Vaughan
Pietersen
Collingwood
Bell
Prior
Hoggard
Sidebottom
Anderson
Panesar

Swann
Harmison
Mustard
Bopara/Shah/Ramprakash

Lol, Matt, ever pessimistic. We were poor in the 2 games we lost and played brilliantly in the 3 that we won. We deserved the series win, maybe Murali would have changed things, but he wasnt there so that factor is insignificant. We won the series and played well to do so, its the first win on the subcontinent for 20 years and back to back series wins. We outplayed the world cup finalists on their home turf.

If England pick Ramprakash for the tour i'll lose all will to live.

What would be wrong with the selection other than age ? He's averaged 100 in the past 2 seasons scoring 2000 runs in the county championship this year. If anyone is more deserving of a call up i'd like to know who.....

Because he's played well over 20 Tests and that's more than enough to realise that he's just not Test standard. Besides, he's about 74 years old.

poor game for England today but I think they don't care because they won the series :D

He wasnt averaging over 100 in county cricket 5 years ago when he made his last test appearance. Nixon came in and did a good job and i think Ramps could do the same.

And Matt, he played 52 tests, a few more than 20 :p.
