England in Sri Lanka

Swann
Sidebottom
Anderson
Panesar

But hang on, Hoggard's fit again yes? If so, Hoggard for Swann.

And for the record, England were hardly convincing winners throughout this series. If Sri Lanka had Murali then i'm 99.99% sure we'd have seen a reversal of the series outcome. We were woeful in both games we lost.

Anderson is god. :) Poor loss today though. :(

oh my f**** god all out for 108 thats shocking i a mstill suprise how they won the series. fernando 6 wickets in 8 overs. what the hell is worng with england. they are a team of underachivers.

Try not to swear please.

thats the problem with england team they change their team for every match why dont jsut stick with the same team every time. i mean hoggard is a awwesome player when he had 2 poor games the just kick him out. u should stick with the best 11 so what if they have a couple of poor games. every player does.

Because he's played well over 20 Tests and that's more than enough to realise that he's just not Test standard. Besides, he's about 74 years old.

Can someone not get better with age? Besdies, he batted in arguably the greatest era of fast bowling with such players as Waqar, Wasim, Ambrose, Walsh and Mcgrath among others, no wonder he had such a low average. He suffered from 12 ducks in his career too, hardly an excuse but it can be a reason for a low average, I am sure he will not be affected by such a fatal condition this time around (if indeed there is a this time). With 97 FC centuries, he is clearly deadly once he gets off the mark.

He's 38. Even if he played out of skin, he's probably gonna retire in 2 years. What would be the point in that? Just close the door on him. The ship has sailed. Huge step backward if we call up a pensioner.

I've said before, if you regard 38 year olds as pensioners, there's no wonder there's a crisis.

I would prefer to have Mark Ramprakash in the Test matches in Sri Lanka than I would Andrew Strauss. It is difficult enough for in-form left handed batsmen there, let alone an out of form one. Ramprakash plays simple, effective shots and he has the experience to get the job done.

I don't believe in building for the future. All I care about is winning the next match. At this moment, I don't care about winning the World Cup in 2011. Nobody should be ruled out because of their age.

Although calling him a pensioner is a bit insulting, I would agree with evo on that.
Taking him would be a step backwards and England have been successful over the past 4-5 years by playing young players and we have Shah and Bopara who are capable of filling those boots.

I'm of the school if your old enough your good enough but theres more benefit in taking Bopara as he can fiddle a few overs if selected and his game suits the low slow decks over there.Ramprakash couldn't hack it before so why should the selectors think he can hack it now?

Same reason as Swann and Sidebottom. Because he has improved.

He's have the time of his career at the minute so I would let him for the rest of days at county cricket and if he came back and failed, that would put a dampner on the 2 seasons he has had.

Bopara is up and coming as a international cricketer and Shah hasn't been given enough opportunities at test level.

Typical inconsistent England. They can play up to standard one day and the next get all out for 100 and look worse then the minnow teams.

As Bob Willis put: Ramprakash belongs in the Read scrapheap, had me laughing for ages.

Look it was just a bad batting performance.
We have shown good signs in this series.
Wait until the next ODI series we play and then judge those performances.
