England in Sri Lanka

sanga going strong... a lead around 250 - 300 would seal the game for us :happy

they will get mre than that, its day 4 and 1st sesion. they will bat out most of the day get a lead of way over 300 and than declare and let Murli win it for them.

Lead of 234, game is close to gone for us. Bell dropped Sanga just before he reached his ton, that was our chance to get back in it. Our only ray of light is if we can bowl them out to give us 300 to chase, even that'd be touch and go though, the pitch doesn't look as bad as I thought it might.

Hope for a draw now, in all honesty.

Nah, the record will go. IMO there are only 2 that won't: Bradman's Test batting average and Laker's Test Match figures.

If Murali`s record is to be broken in the future, it won`t be broken by a bowler currently playing Itnl. cricket.

lead of 280 now... would be awesome if sanga gets the double century..

na that wont hapen, thell declare before that. about 30-40 more runs and i think they will declare.

an uphill task for england to save this test, dont think they will be able to though.

doesnt the rule require KP to sit out the time that he wasn in the field? he will have to bat down the order correct?

No because it was an injury suffered because of contact with the ball during the match (it was wasn't it?) he can bat wherever he likes. If it was an injury such as a pulled muscle, or an injury suffered outside of the match he would have had to bat 7 of lower, but that is not the case.

Hopefully Sri Lanka will bat for as long as possible, to give us a chance to go for a draw on the last day. Need to be economical now to slow the scoring so Sri Lanka will have to take longer to get the runs they want.

Come on England, you can do it! Sadly, unless Murili has a freak accident and can't bowl, England don't have much chance at the rate SL are going.

The way Sangakkara is batting I think he is definately the best barsmen in world right now.

I've never been served a pint by him so I couldn't possibly comment.

Poor day for England, we bowled okay, but we fielded poorly, Jimmy was poor this innings an eco rate of 5.5 his chances in the 2nd test depend on whether Hoggard is fit enough or not. Just a case of trying to bat out tomorrow, disappointing about Cook, he has a weakness vs Left arm seamers.

yeah but the great thing about Cook is he's 22. He's learning from this and by the time he's in his prime at 30 he'll be immense :D He's got character and I'd back him to bounce back. We need something special from KP, the weather, god, or anything here. I only watched the morning session but I must say when I watched it I was very impressed with Priors keeping. Still it's our lack of killer instinct that costs us. If we had it against India we would have won, if we had it in this test we could have won and if we had it against Australia it wouldn't have been 5-0 for sure anyway. Broad has got to play now, but he'll give it to Harmy because he doesn't exactly look like he's going to take any major risks.
