England in Sri Lanka

Swann is the man. If Panesar comes back into the one day side now then the selectors are complete morons.

Swann does look promising and Panesar pales in comparison to him in ODIs, espcially since Swann can bat well too.

Leave him out till 2009 and then bring him back to hammer the aussies. then leave him till 2011 or whenever that series is!

In srilanka they shpoud ban day night matches its just depends on who wins the toss

Isn't that the challenge of International cricket? It's like saying we should ban day games in England because it swings in the morning!

No, because if the games are decided by the toss there is no contest and therefore no point in playing.

Gosh.
Flintoff had such a future in front of him. Its really sad when injury bogs a great player down :(

Well done England. I love seeing Sri Lanka go down!!!

Swan and Shah saved them at the end there.
That comment was always on the cards.

On the flipside of things, it is rather humourous when England thrash another country in a ODI expect when it's Australia. :(

That's probably the 1st game England's ever won without Kevin Pietersen going blastic on the opposition.

I guess that the other positive thing is that Graeme Swann appears to have English blood aswell. Not something that's completely common nowadays.

Go Team England!

Apart from the 5 we won in the summer and all of the one's we won in the CB series? ;)

He's been poor in ODI's lately.

He's saying day/night games should be banned why? It's not the same at all Sri Lankan grounds and i dare say that the toss is not huge at Dambulla in the first game Sri Lanka bowled and fielded well and in the second England got early wickets and put pressure on the batsmen. It's the wicket that's tricky not the lights.

I'll put that post down to naivety of someone of only 16 years. KP hasn't performed for England in ODIs since the WC and we've improved imo, most of the games we've won (including those in the CBS) he's either been injured or out of form. As for your comment on England, an Australian really can't say something like that.

I didn't see either game as I had no Sky Sports on holiday but I'm pleased that Swann has done well and Shah has proved his importance to this team. Looking forward to tomorrow :)

England have only ever won an ODI once where Pietersen's scored a 100 iirc

I'd go as far as saying we've won more games where Pietersen has underperformed than when he's actually played well.

Correct. Though there was a tie against South Africa. That said without him in those games we would have been thrashed instead of:

Defeat by 7 runs
Defeat by 3 wickets
Defeat by 7 wickets
