Presentation Ceremony​

Mark Nicholas : Hello and welcome to the presentation ceremony of the 2nd test match of this Ashes series 2006-07. We have all witnessed a great test match which ended in a draw perhaps a fair result in the end. It was anybody's game till the final ball but at the end of the day neither team lost nor anyone won. Lets start with our presentation ceremony, first of all I would like to call upon the Australian captain Ricky Ponting to say a couple of words.

Well Ricky it must have been very tensed in the dressing room when the McGrath and Johnson were trying not to lose their wicket in the final over.

R.Ponting :Yeah I was praying that somehow they bat out the remaining six balls but at the same time our team was confident that they both will negotiate the final over and we were looking for the win but then playing a defensive shot on the final ball was a safest option as we are already leading the series 1-0.

Mark Nicholas :England were crushed to heavy defeat in the 1st test match and now they came back strongly almost winning this one at the Adelaide. Do you think that they will cause few headaches for you in rest of the matches?

R.Ponting :Well not really. Adelaide pitch is always good for batting and the team batting first score in excess of 500 but then it a depends on how well they bat in the 2nd innings. The same thing happened with England. They scored over 500 in the 1st innings and then our bowlers did well to bounce back in the match and we gave ourself a chance to win this one as we batted aggressively but in the end we just fell short of the required target.
England also played well in this match but their batting collapsed again in the 2nd innings even when the conditions were good for batting. The next match is at Perth and our bowlers will be hoping to dominate the England batsmen again.

Now i would like to announce the 3 mobile Man Of The Match. The MOTM is selected by our commentary team and he is none other than the England skipper Michael Vaughan for his terrific knock of 212 runs. Ladies and gentlemen please give a big round of applause for the England captain. He also receives a special award for scoring a double century in this Ashes series which is also his maiden test match double century.

Congrats Micheal, a great comeback after being thrashed by 147 runs in the first match.
You almost won this one but couple of drop catches and misfields snatched victory from your hands.

M.Vaughan :Yeah it was great game of cricket and the boys did well in this match with both the bat and the ball. Cook played fantastically in the 1st innings and is continuing his good form in the series and others also responded well with the bat to get the total pas 500. In the end our bowlers tried their level best to win this one but unfortunately we failed to take that final step to victory. Hopefully we will play with the same fighting spirit in the next test match and try to win it.

Mark Nicholas : How are you feeling after scoring your maiden test double century?

M.Vaughan :Its such a wonderful feeling to score your maiden test double century and scoring that in the Ashes makes it even special. Still a win would have made it even more special.

Mark Nicholas :Well now with the Perth test just few days away, do you see any changes in the team as Bell and Collingwood are really struggling in this series?

M.Vaughan :Both Bell and Collingwood are quality players and they have just not scored in this 2 matches but I am sure that they bat well in the next match. Not thinking about the changes at the moment but I will like to go with the same team in the next test match as Broad also did well in his debut match. Still we may consider Harmison in the side as the Perth pitch has more bounce and he can be a handy bowler there.

Mark Nicholas : Congrats on winning the MOTM Michael, well done.

M.Vaughan :Yeah, Thanks Mark.
