FOOTBALL Football Manager Discussion

Starting with Liverpool in the game is rather annoying. A dire team, players' morale are horrible, no transfer budget whatsoever and you basically have to wait for someone to takeover before you can even attempt to hire backroom staffs, let alone buying new players! :facepalm

You'll never walk alone, you got troubles too. I tried managing Liverpool once but just made me sick. No torres. No carp.

Ok, I'm going to try and set myself a nearly impossible challenge. Feel free to try this out yourselves but it could take many seasons. Anyway, my goal is to win the Domestic league and Champions League in all of England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Northern Ireland. I've loaded all those countries down to the bottom leagues (even though the Welsh league is only one league and England only down to BSP). I don't know what the requirements should be so the only requirement I'm going to go with is that you cannot manage a team that has already won the Champions League (even in the actual FM save even if they haven't won it in RL), so if you win it with Man Utd, it doesn't count and you have to manage a team in the lowest league of the country to start off with as a Sunday League Rep Manager. So the leagues:

England (Blue Square Bet Premier)
Ireland (First Division)
N.Ireland (Second Division)
Scotland (Third Division)
Wales (Principality Welsh Prem)

Game Start Date: July 2010
Database: Large + Players Based in UK + Ireland region + Players or Reunionese Nationality (Apparently there are a lot of hidden gems there :p) - 31,000 players, not too bad. 3.5 star estimated game speed, should be decent then.

So where am I starting? Well I've taken up a job at Queen's Park in the Scottish Third Division. Predicted 4th/10th and the only amateur club in the league. They do have some good facilities though. So here we go on an extreme challenge.

I'm loving being an amateur club. I fired all of my staff, which I regretted afterwards cause I had like 10 coaches and then my board wouldn't let me sign more than 3... But I signed defensive coach with 20 defence, a GK Coach with 20 goalkeeping and youth coach with 20 working with youngsters (All 10+ in Determination, Discipline and Motivating as well), signed 3 good scouts (14/14, 13/13 and 10/12 Judging CA/PA respectively). Also signed Steve Whitehall as my Physio who has 20 Physiotherapy and 17 Determination if that means anything :p

Then as I don't spend a single thing on wages, I just went on and signed anyone that looked decent, knowing I could fire them at any time :p So I got rid of about 40 players and made 20 odd new signings (Still another 2 considering contracts :p) I signed 3 strikers and one of my last signings will be a striker as well which was pretty stupid, considering I was only planning on playing one striker. Was sort of going to play a 4-1-2-2-1 formation with 1 DMC, 2 CM, 2 Wingers and 1 striker.

I had a horrible pre-season results wise, losing every game except three although did beat Newcastle 2-1 :p Then we went out on penalties in the Challenge Cup to a second division side. Now I play a 1st division side in the League Cup before the league starts.

First Premier League game of my new save.

Still have Torres as I didn't bother to use any editors but it's just pathetic that you can't even get new backroom staffs in to improve the training to begin with!

Started the season with Liverpool. Won the first league game comfortably 3-0 against West Brom at the Hawthorns(not always the case when I was playing with Chelsea) and then criminally lost 2-1 to Everton at Goodison Park in the next game! :lol

It's been a horrible season injury wise for FC Halifax as I have barely had an available defence to me the whole season. Yadolahi was out injured for pretty much the first half of the season, and Smith got injured not so long in leaving me McGinty at centre back. I picked up a couple of defenders on loan for 3 months but I never had more than 2 options and it didn't help that Henley, one of my right backs got injured leaving me a 34 year old defender to play in every game, then my left back got injured, I didn't have any backups for him and I ended up having to play my central midfielder at centre back. Yalodahi is finally back from injury, and Smith should be back soon so I'm finally getting on the right track. Somehow still sitting second in the league so still likely to get promotion. It will be some job though to do that, and it doesn't help that I'm playing 2 games nearly every week.

Won League 2 pretty easily in the end, with Saric going on a huge goalscoring run at the end of the season, ending up with 30 for the season. Sean McGinty became the first icon at the club. And then this guy comes out of the youth academy. Looks like he could turn into a real gem of a player. Petrucci is currently only 3.5 stars and he is already a legend (although his potential is the same as this new guy). I have two other guys in my youth team with potential, both strikers, Andy Cooney (3 star potential) and Billy Ling (2.5 star potential).

So I bought a couple of youngsters for free from premier league clubs. The result? First in Blue Square Bet Premier in december. Still a long way to go though.

You know, the match engine is TOTALLY F***KING BIAS towards the opposition! In nearly every game I play against top oppositions, the first highlight of the game is usually them having a corner, free kick or throw-in AND this happens a lot ESPECIALLY in the away games! :mad

Furthermore, whenever you're in need of a goal or two, the retarded match engine will just skip through nearly the entire thing BUT when the opposition needs to score, they just keep on showing them getting chances! I think that is kinda obvious in the game but it's just really ANNOYING! :mad

Ok, rant over!

Top opposition playing at their home starting the match well? Sounds like a bug...
