EmiratesDubai captain Maqsood called tails incorrectly and Ledwidge elected to bat.

Keith Ledwidge

EmiratesDubai

Waheed Hameed

Tanvir Aftab

The Killers put on a fine display today in their coaches absence, who apparently was nowhere to be seen. The team voted on Keith Ledwidge to captain the side, and let him pick the team.

The team he selected himself dominated once 1st EmiratesDubai. With the bat, Killers Cricket Club were off to a great start, openers Anneveld and Shukla adding 108 when Shukla fell for 47 off 46 balls. Enter Ellis, who smashed the bowlers to all parts of the ground, racking up 142 off 90 deliveries before he was run out. He lost partners Anneveld (68 off 70) and Sivaraman (32 off 26) while he batted, before losing his wicket 46.3 overs in with 371 on the board. Mantri went for an extremely quick 26 off 9 deliveries, and then Nandin (78 not out off 54) and Marsh (21 not out off 7) closed the innings with a bang, taking the Killers to 5/423 off their allotted 50 overs.

In reply, EmiratesDubai lost wickets regularly, starting with Adnan with only 22 on the board. At 1-49 there looked to be some hope of chasing the mammoth total, before the wickets fell like follows:

2-49 (W. Hameed, 9.3 ov) 3-59 (M. Elahi, 12.6 ov) 4-66 (S. Maqsood, 14.1 ov) 5-73 (Q. Nawaz, 16.2 ov) 6-79 (K. Khan, 18.1 ov) 7-89 (D. Ahsan, 19.4 ov) 8-98 (A. Zaman, 22.2 ov) 9-99 (M. Javed, 23.2 ov) 10-101 (T. Aftab, 24.3 ov)

Captain Ledwidge stood up and took 5-16, with Calder (2-14) and Mantri (2-6) got the other wickets, with one run out.

Man of the match
Keith Ledwidge (3 points), Peter Ellis (2), Kirita Nandin (1)

Coaches comments
Unforunately, the coach wasn't available to make comments after todays game. With 4 days until the next match, and with it being his birthday tomorrow, he isn't expected to appear until Monday, after his hangover has cleared.

Left arm finger spinner
Right hand batsman
One Day: 3 runs @ 3 - HS 3
3 wickets @ 46.67
Twenty20: 60 runs @ 60 1 50 HS 60
2 wickets @ 10

Definitely a Twenty20 player, has failed to fire in his 5 One Dayers so far. Only playing one Twenty20, but was amazing, making 60 off 39 balls and taking 2-20 with the ball. Not a huge or crucial part to the club, but he plays his part and does his job.

Killers Cricket Club v Arsenal - Seniors Twenty20 - Preview

After recovering from his partying (at least, that's what we suspect) over the weekend, it was back to business this week. Higher orders told McDonald to step up his game after failing to name an order last week for the game against KCC.

The team
Darren Long
Michael Hallebone +
Stuart Young *
Jalanidhi Sivaraman
Kirita Nandin
Keith Marsh
Kandala Mantri
Adam Reynolds
Graham Hayne
Kevin Mansfield
Phillip Calder

Definitely not the strongest team, a completely different top 3, the middle order is relatively the same, and the bowling consists of 3 allrounders, and only one full strength team regular bowler in Calder. I can't see the Killers winning this one, unless the coaching and McDonald can weave their magic here.

The quote
"Not the strongest team going, as the boys have to back up the next day. Being a Twenty20 it doesn't really matter if the best team isn't playing, although a win would be nice."

A fat, lazy youngster, he has amazing batting talent, just not the technique to back it up. He is largely overweight and has poor fitness, is relatively strong, and holds the catches in the slips he doesn't need to move to. Jake McDonald has told him to lose some weight, improve his fitness, his technique, and he could be one of the Killers main batsman in the future.

Killers Cricket Club v Arsenal - Twenty20 - Review

A 5,383 strong crowd greeted Bagshaw and Young at the toss, Bagshaw calling incorrectly and Young deciding to bat.

The teams
Killers Cricket Club

Darren Long
Michael Hallebone
Stuart Young
Jalanidhi Sivaraman
Kirita Nandin
Keith Marsh
Kandala Mantri
Adam Reynolds
Graham Hayne
Kevin Mansfield
Phillip Calder

Arsenal

Mark Bagshaw
Caleb Palfreyman

Bill Watson
Alfred Perraton
Brad Kremerskothen
Dennis Brown
Walter Carter
James Knowles
James Butterworth
Matthew Cullen

Killers Cricket Club got off to a flying start, 2 off the first ball and 6 off the second, but Long soon lost his wicket for 10, 5 balls into the game. Captain and keeper, Young and Hallebone, pumped the bowling to all parts taking the score to 1-91 before Young fell for 44 off 29. Hallebone and Sivaraman went on the attack, bringing up the 50 partnership in 23 balls, then moving to the hundred partnership in 4 overs, taking only 46 balls for it. It was a fine display of striking a cricket ball, Hallebone (95 off 54) was unlucky not to score his century, but hit 6 4s and 2 6s in a entertainment show. Sivaraman was just in a league of his own. He pummeled 78 unbeaten runs off only 33 deliveries, with 7 4s and 2 6s, striking at almost 240 runs per 100 balls.

The awesome batting display from the Killers took their team total to 2/228 off their 20 overs, and set a near impossible target for Arsenal. Arsenal started off terribly losing a wicket third ball, then two in Calders next over, to be 3-11 after 3 overs. Perraton and Watson put on a small stand, taking the team to 3-46, before they both fell in the space of 4 overs, leaving Arsenal hanging at 5-54 after 12, needing over 21 per over. A run out capped off the loss, leaving Arsenal at 6-83 before Kremerskothen and Carter picked up the rate a bit at the end, although it was all too late. They finished on 35 and 21 respectively, some shining light in the 101 run loss.

Man of the match
Michael Hallebone (3 points), Jalanidhi Sivaraman (2), Phillip Calder (1)

Coaches comments
"Definitely not a good enough effort. With the ball, I was astounded with how poor we performed. We had no intensity, and they deserved to win if we hadn't batted so well. I was impressed with Georgy and particularly Henry's innings, a 16 year old stepping into the senior side like that, playing way above his age, it was fantastic to see him finish the innings so well. We have so much to improve on, luckily that wasn't our best team, I would have cut them all from the team if it was. As it stands, it wasn't our best side, and we have to take what we get."

Does anyone read this? No one comments it, that's for sure. If no one even bothers reading the story or this, and replying, then I'm not going to bother continuing. Sure, I don't mind doing it, but if no one cares, why should I?

<3 ily.

Whats Sivaraman's skills?

I can't tell, there is no fun in that.

Well not in this thread, at least.

If there is no posts confirming following by 2 and a half hours from now, I'll just request a close. I've still got my Ashes story to start, and kind of feel like doing one where I can update when I like, not pressured to update.

Ok, I'm just going to let this die. I might bring this back, or make a new thread, in the future, but I doubt it. Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed, but I don't see the point in doing a story if there is no comments or any signs people are reading. Wanders and Matt isn't enough, AFAIC.

Cheers.
