Group B - Bangladesh, Bermuda, India, Sri Lanka

Source?? Has he denied it again after the World Cup? Has the BCCI approached him after the world cup?

Ganguly has said (to cricinfo) he no longer has the desire to be captain.

I believe that a coach must be someone willing to be ambitious and to quote a cliche, look for pace, spin, sixes, fours and wickets, the basics.

Agarkar has always been inconsistent but he was starting to get into his groove against Sri Lanka. Too bad he only got to bowl 8 overs, when he was clearly the best of our pace bowlers in that XI.

Uthappas showed promise but he fails in one tournament and he gets kicked out? Can't say the BCCI haven't done that before.

Harbhajan Singh was only a year back hailed as our best ODI bowler in the current team. One bad tournament and we want his head, too? Dravid has been our most consistent performer in ODI's for a while now and I guess it would only be normal to drop him as well.

If India make wholesale changes, we're not going to get anywhere. In fact, we'll be taking many, many steps back.

As for team unity, I think it is tied hand-in-hand with winning. When we had that streak of wins chasing, no one would have doubted the unity of our team. Hence, I think it's extremely inaccurate to single out Chappell and Dravid as the people who have sapped away India's team unity.

Agarkar - Has always been inconsistent and these days, he doesnt look to be our attacking bowler. Or at least he doesnt seem to be the economical option. We dont know when his inconsistency could rear its ugly head. Why do we need such a player when we have other options, younger options?

Harbhajan - He can be asked to go back to domestic circuit and work more on his bowling. Clearly, he is the senior spinner and has to be more attacking and should take wickets. May be a break will help him

Dravid - Utmost stupidity if they sack him from the team! India's best batsman and among the world's best too. Captaincy has been a huge burden on him and his batting has suffered when he is captain. He should be relieved of captaincy.

Uthappa - May be he can be given more chances, but with his style of play, he will fail miserably in pitches abroad. He will face humiliation because he knows only one style of play - blasting the ball out. While that might work on rare occasions, he has lot of chances to fail. He has got to work a lot on his back foot play and should be ready to grind it out if necessary. A Dhoni approach would do him good (Dhoni has started adopting the 'grind when the situation demands' approach).

India need someone who can get them to click, becuase their team is filled with obvious talent with the bat. For a team to go out of the world cup having had the biggest ever world cup win is really amazing. BTW manee change your sig :p

This annoys me, not your fault. Simply, the BCCI should not pick teams, they should find sponsers, organise series, but NOT pick teams. The head coach should pick teams and be the manager. In this way a coach has full control over a team and can pick a team to suit his plans.

Sourav Ganguly ahs denied to be captain , new contenders are Sachin Tendulkar and Yuvraj Singh . BCCI is looking for Steve Waugh or John Bucchanan as India's new coach

Sandeep Patil should be made the coach. I dont like this idea of an interim coach that the BCCI is trying to adopt. Cant they appoint a foreign coach by May when the Bangladesh series starts? Is it that tough to appoint such a coach?

After or before the World Cup?

Yuvraj should be captain, without doubt. Don't place the captaincy with Tendulkar, if he is to continue his career he needs to apply himself to getting some form back, not worry about the captaincy as well.

Agarkar - He has Chris Gayle's number but against anyone else, is useless, would it be so incredible to play him only against West Indies, or only in India. Find the conditions where he thrives and play him there. Is that so hard for the BCCI to do?

Harbhajan - He is not good. He is OK, but needs to work more on his bowling.

Dravid - One of the best ever, you can always count on him to try and get you out of a situation. So smart, such a good batsman and truly an Indian die hard cricketer. You cannot praise this man enough.

Uthappa - He should NOT play every match, he should play when the pitch or bowling attacks suit him. He could do well on flat pitches, but on one that moves, do you need the loss of an early wicket? No.

I do not see the harm in playing a team for the pitch instead of making just one or two changes for the pitch.

Soon after the loss to Bangladesh. Cannot find the article, and so quoting off memory.

Lets see what Saurav has to say now. He can be a good temporary move, until India get back to winning ways. What I feel is, its not that easy to blood a new young captain when the team is facing so much of flak after a disastrous and prestigious campaign such as the World Cup. If its Yuvraj Singh, he will feel the heat a lot and would test him to the core.

So if Ganguly can take over and captain for a few series and hopefully get India back to winning ways, then Yuvraj can take the mantle over and go from there!

india relly made fun of indian cricketers

So sad. They have entertained the nation and their fans in countless manner. They do not deserve this insult of having their posters painted black, their families threatened and their belongings being destroyed!

At the same time Sai is there not something to be said for a new skipper taking over when the side have essentially hit rock bottom. In that there really is no lower they can go?

Yeah, its a tough decision. Lets see what the selectors and the board do.

http://worldcup.indiatimes.com/No_immediate_decision_on_captaincy_issue/articleshow/1812827.cms

92% of the TOI readers want Sachin to be dropped. Man, this is gathering momentum. If Sachin somehow retains his spot for the Bangladesh series, he should make use of it to score heavy runs. I hate seeing this great batsman suffering the ignonimy of being dropped. he is the one of those rare Indian players who has not been dropped so far in his whole career!

Pawar talking about two international teams - India Seniors and India Blues! What is he actually trying to say? That if countries tour India, one of the two teams will be played opposite them based on the decision of the board and selectors?

If Sehwag could be retained in th ODI side without a century since 2005, why not Sachin ?
Other than this world cup he had as good a ODI series in India as any other batsman , was MOS in the Sri Lanka series .

Just came back from India, good to see all those those annoying adverts disappearing quickly.

Go for Yuvraj, Sachin already had a chance as captain. For the current team we need a captain who is in his youth and lead for the years to come. I seriously though when Kaif was selected he would have been a good contender for the captaincy role.

Coach selection would be interesting though, both those names would be good. But I have a feeling that they will go for a local coach.
