Group B - Bangladesh, Bermuda, India, Sri Lanka

Bit harsh to entirely blame Chappell when a batting lineup with close to 50,000 ODI runs to their names all failed when it mattered most. It seems in India that scoring a stylish century every 20 innings is enough to warrant keeping your place. It also doesn't help that the majority of fans are fairly fickle and want players dropped after one bad game, and are back to god status the moment they have a good game.

Maybe it was a miracle ireland outing pakistan but not bangladesh india i dnt think. Their a good team on their day and beat australia in 2005 and srilanka last year and the kiwis in the warm up game who were fielding a full strength outfit.

but i find it hard to belive that pakistan would get involved in match fixing. I mean after all the 99 WC speculation with the bangladesh defeat and recently with all the doping i mean did they really want more trouble?

I disagree with you. Bangladesh is an over hyped team.Their bowling just NOTHING

It's not even Super-6, it's Super-5 but those 5 teams are in incredibly good form so it'll be very interesting.

stupid chappell and his visions. groom the younger blood my ASS.
just lot of big talk. and what did he groom in the first place.
pathan, raina, kaif etc are dropped and the old warhorses like
ganguly, laxman and kumble were retained !
i mean did he even
have a plan ?????????

That is just coming out of frustration for you i guess. Its strange that u want the coach to go for Pathan,Raina & Kaif who were poor poor in form. Raina & Kaif almost forgot how to bat & were completely different from their debut periods.

Its just not fair to blame entirely on Coach.. And moreover, this is a WorldCup where u need experienced players to lead from front. Ganguly made a great comeback & infact did well in WCup. Laxman was not even in WCup squad. How was he retained :what And regarding Kumble, we lost both the games where Kumble was not even playing. ;)

We didn't play well.. thats it! Blaming on coach that he didnt do this & he didn't do that is just a excuse for the loss in my opinion. I still believe, we have/had the strongest batting order.. its just that we didn't rise to our potential.

Is that coach's fault that Sachin got out in cheap manner... Is that coach's fault that Ganguly(who played patiently in both the games) to get out in a hurried way of a mistimed shot... Is that coach's fault that Yuvraj got run out in a horrible way.. I don't think so!

It's not about whether they won or lost. It's about the way they played. I think the time has come to take harsh decisions, which should have been taken before the WC.

Chappell shouldn't get the blame. As you said, it should be the famed batting line up that must be blamed. However, Chappell did get his preferences wrong. VVS Laxman, Dinesh Mongia and Gautam Gambhir should have been in the team in the first place. I've been saying that since they picked the team.

The fans were disappointed because these very players make millions. So, they are expected to perform at their very best. There was little or no criticism after the 2003 WC, as the fans knew that the team, led by a good captain, had put in their very best.

Dravid is a very weak captain. We lost the third test match in SA just because of his insistence to play Sehwag. Now, we have lost the WC just because he wanted certain players in the team.

Dravid is a great batsman, but a poor captain. I'd say Munaf Patel will captain the side better than Dravid.

Everyone is to take the blame. Players, coaches, selectors, management and even the fans and critics.

I thought India as always were a bit over-rated going into the World Cup. I thought there were four teams more likely, capable and deserved of winning the competition. This hype is generated by the media and the fans and puts additional pressure on the players. Two good home ODI series wins over SL and WI cannot undo India's horrible form outside the subcontinent.

Obviously I had expected India to enter the super 8s but had also said that Bangladesh were the most likely team to cause an upset. On their day they can match one of the bigger sides.

Also there are a lot of posts saying X,Y,Z should have been selected. But I dont think there is any player who would have made any drastic difference to the Indian side. If those players had played and lost the game then many would question the absence of the current players.

The pitches in india and westindies are same so the point that two home series wins count for nothing is not valid.
actually they have play better in odi outside home except under dravid.

i agree this was the best team which india had to offer and they were not good enough
on the day.but still i think its just a game and 2 losses its not the end.i saw
dravid and shewag had tears on their eyes i also felt miserable but i thought what would these guys have been going through is much more.its shameful that news channel follow people and encourage them in vandalising players houses it just anti social people who encourage such activities.

people now have started talking about the system i just want to remind them its the same system which has won us world cup .
but one thing
which i knew was the intense pressure which i saw on faces of players while chasing that target.it would be better for our cricket if we think a little about the game and not who is from our own states and indian media persons are just morons.

Does anyone want me to write an article on the future of Indian ODI cricket?

I just heard on NDTV that tour operators have lost Rs. 30,00,00,000 on account of cancellation of bookings by Indian fans. A few days back I had heard that 5000 fans were going to the WC. That was already a tenth of the fans who went to the 2003 WC. Back then, 50000 Indian fans were there at the WC.

Did I mention the billions that the sponsors will lose? :))

If you have seen in the Indian news channel. One man died of heart attack in Hyderabad after this loss. When one reporter asked Sharad Powar will u take the responsibility of this loss he replied 'What nonsense?'.
hooo haaaa India aaayaa India! yes they are coming back to India.

That's awesome from Pawar. That's what I would have said. How is he responsible for the death of that guy?
1. It was the players' fault.
2. It was the man's own fault for taking it too seriously.
