ICCCT2006: Group A

I think certainly in Odi cricket we don't have many batsman who would offer the big hitting, quick scoring, and experience with the bat as Freddie. In test cricket however I would probably not pick him for his batting alone. It would be pretty close though, and when you factor in his fielding and bowling he really is a massively talented player.

He's more than capable with the bat, when he's on form he's as good as any batsman in our team maybe barring Tres.

Don't forget his fielding abilities too. We won't win the trophy, but we arguably have the best fielding outfit.

When at their best, I'd take Vaughan & Pietersen and maybe even Strauss over Trescothick.

And England having the best fielding outfit is diffenatly argueable. Seeing as Ponting, Symonds & Clarke are all in the same side.

Flintoff's ODI batting is very important to the England team. He scores quickly down the order. Him batting will help them but without his bowling, England will have trouble. He seems to be a vital part of the attack, having pace and accuracy. Keeping the run rate down and getting wickets.

The thing is Flintoff will boost the English team.
They have really young players in their ranks with pretty-less experience.

So,someone like a Flintoff will bring about massive experience and even on paper the side would look strong enough.

Agreed, looking at the English side he looks to be the smasher along with KP so you can't really leave him out as you need that X-Factor which is what Flintoff has.

That's a shame. I hope it doesn't hurt his preparations for the World Cup. Giving all these other bowlers opportunities could see him pushed down the pecking order, and he may not even make the WC2007 squad.

Blessing in disguise?

Not if one Mick Lewis is to replace him ;)
I guess Cullen will be brought over as hes the only one that has had a hit out against International teams.

First bit is nonsense, Tres has 15 odd ODI hundreds for a reason, the Second bit maybe.

Tres, Colly, Bell, JD and Flintoff aren't a bad lot to have either.

Yeah, Vaughan has a terrible ODI record in Test Matches his better although his form in his 10 odd matches have been dodgy apart from his 2 tons.

Also, Trescothick has 12 ODI centuries, not 15.

It was a err typo on the keypad...

I really think we should go with Yardy and JD, as spin is proving so effective in ODI and both have done well for England. Doubt sense will prevail though.

Let's hope random drug tests are not the normal procedure!

We showed signs of improvement in the last ODI though.

2 spinners again? I obviously think it would be harsh to drop Yardy, but then I am biassed.
I think Dalrymple is better than Yardy

I'm with you they both are doing really good job and they both are all-rounders
