India in England/Ireland/Scotland

apparently a severe weather warning for monday and chance of rain tomorrow..

..can't beleive its gone overcast for our inings..weather gods not on Englands side this summer..

Thats why I always believe, India is a better test playing nation than ODIs. But currently after seeing that SA series recently in this tour, body language have showed some improvements ( Still need to improve a lot though ). So what i expect is a promising fight and trying to win by Indian team rather than giving away the matches for credit.

I hope they do not spoil the team's very good progress after they have redeemed themselves, by appointing a coach who wont suit the team. We redeemed ourselves with the win against South Africa. Now we have proved that we are fully back on track and we have all but nullified the World Cup disappointment.

:DSo, you mean I do not make valid posts ? ;) Did you not have a look at my Reputation ?

Your name should replace my name there. Your posts sound far valid than mine.

God help India when Kumble retires lol...too bad he turned into an all rounder a few years late :p

No worries. We have an even better spinner waiting in the wings, who can turn in much more than Kumble does.

He's a tidy batsman, also. India has to look towards getting another shot at Strauss before the end of the day.

Jeez, Kumble is such a legend. I get the feeling that this will go down as Kumble's Test. I'm happy as it will keep Harbhajan out of the side longer.

Saying this at a completely wrong time? Harbhajan has just picked up 11 wickets for his county Surrey and has been looking in great form ever since he has joined the county side. He is due a comeback any time. He should replace Ramesh Powar soon. Harbhajan and Piyush Chawla will be our spin department's future and already it looks rosy.

Actually, he is an allrounder to start with, unlike Kumble who started off purely as a bowler, who could rarely hang in with the bat.

Still, its tough to call it as replacement for Kumble. We can judge that only after some years i.e how he plays after getting regular chances. We should not forget the way Kaif and Raina failed after showing some of the promising match winning performances. So have to wait and see his consistency.

So, next to Tendulkar, replacement for Kumble is also a tough one to get.

I would go with Chawla.
He's young, he's a good spinner from what I've seen and he can bat and field.
KP getting out a donkey shot really, not even bothering to have a look at Tendulkar.

Given how we've made a flat tracker look dangerous, we deserve the bloody bad weather.

You guys haven't batted that badly. Just India is better prepared for flat tracks since the pitches in India are largely flat tracks.

I think specialist batting coach(Indian) will do.We dont want guys who come here for money.;)

Stubborn resistance from England. What we would expect (and especially when Umpire Howell is determined not to give plumb LBWs for Kumble.)

I think if India can get England all out with a lead of around 300, then it might be wise to enforce the follow on. Otherwise, I think India should just bat, regardless of whether the follow on is enforceable or not.

I actually don't think enforcing the follow on would be the best option. Obviously, it would increase the likelihood of an Indian win even more, but it would leave the door slightly open for England. Although massively unlikely, say we scored a quickfire 450 (okay this is turning out to be more unlikely than I previously imagined) and got ourselves a lead of 150; That could be a little bit tricky to chase on the last day.

More unlikely than Paris Hilton shutting her legs though.

Kumble, well played, dude!
110*. Fantastico.
Now, finesh 'em off for about 320, enforce the follow on, chase down around 120.
Ownage pwnage h4x!!!

I don`t think there is any chance of India enforcing the follow on.
I doubt whether any team who are chasing a win in England for 21 years will .
That is probably the only way by which England can level the series.
The English resistance has`nt surprised me. I thought that we`d be made to work harder for our wickets.
I have been impressed by the way we have bowled today on this flat deck.
All the bowlers have swung it and England have been troubled all way through the day.

This test resembles the one at Sydney in 2003.
India scored 705/7 dec and had Australia reeling at 280/6 but the Aussies recovered to score 450.
India did not enforce the follow on and batted on to set Australia 443 on the final day.
They almost managed to spoil Steve Waugh`s farewell then but Waugh denied them a win.

another poor decsion,, no wonder there's been so few hundreds this series..

We deserve a decision going our way.
Howell already made two shockers , both of which went against India.
Collingwood was out plumb in front to Kumble first ball.
