India in West Indies, 2009

But he has an IMMENSE pull shot, he can just launch it out of the park. Can't blame him for backing his strengths and whats working for him.

His strength?

Raina plays the odd pull shot that goes for six, it doesn't mean he is any good with it.

Well Rohit, I have to say that Raina's pull shots in NZ were made to look real good by their really small grounds. I was astonished to see that some of his top edges flew for sixes in NZ. Raina has to work a lot on short pitched bowling to become a better player. I dont believe that you cannot learn to play short pitched bowling better after you have started playing for India. With lot of practice, you can acquire the technique to play short pitched bowling.

Haven't been following this series too closely because of the timing (matches start at 8pm in India) and traveling.

I do have to say it was a phenomenal knock by Yuvi in the first match and that that ground looked ridiculously tiny. With the T20 WC being held in the Caribbean next year, the games in that ground could break a few records. I thought he may even get the first ODI 200 before he nudged one down the leg-side. Really shows what a fine innings Anwar played for that 194.

Anyways, Game 2 was much more disappointing, although Dhoni is showcasing his Test match caliber here. :) Hope he actually translates that into results whenever India happen to play a Test match, next. I haven't watched the highlights but looks like we continue to stop using our brains when playing the short ball. I saw Rohit Sharma's dismissal in the first game and pulling a short ball well wide outside off stump is as dumb as it gets. Where are Sehwag's cuts when you need them? Looks like we are playing pull shots just to try and show the world that we can pull the ball, when quite clearly we can't properly decide when to. :p

Also, I'm confused about this scheduling. Why play the first two games so quickly back-to-back and then have almost a week's rest before the next two games? Should have been spread out more evenly. No need for such a long break in such a short tour.

I would get rid of Ravi Jadeja and try out Abhi Nayar in the next game. I reckon Badri could replace Rohit as well, since Rohit looks like a T20 specialist and nothing else.

Sohum, I guess like the Indian players you guys must be happy Edwards will not play any of the ODIs, I would have loved to see him in action in St. Lucia, track there have a bit more bite than Sabina!!!:D

Rohit Sharma wont be dropped for the 3rd ODI aswell.Hes seen as a future prospect and will be selected for a few more tournaments.

Edwards is so overrated. Averages 90.5 against us in ODIs.

Yeah, but he's in some form right now.

The only form he is in is Injured.

Yeah I believe that was part of the problem that made you guys unable to defend your Championship in the ICC World Twenty20!!!
The fact is, your batsmen were exposed, and that was done by 90+ mph deliveries at them, the world saw it, they felt it, I guess to you they just had a bad series!!!

West Indies surprised me with their brilliant performance in the second game. I thought they'd make harder work of it than losing just 2 wickets. Morton never seemed up to much in England, but he really did well on Sunday.

Rohit Sharma is still not comfortable with the short ball it seems.

God people just tend to make fun of Indians not able to play short stuff. Looks like we won in England, RSA, Australia and WI in past as short balls were banned.
