India in West Indies, 2009

Cheteshwar Pujara again unluckey. he should be in for somebody's place as he has shown much consistency in Ranji Trophy.

Scored 1000+ runs in two consecutive years in 800+ runs in 7-8 matches/innings last season.

he should be in. what do you say guys on this.

Also Srikant, selector from south zone is giving chances to his players only (new) like vijay and badrinath.

Cheteshwar Pujara - India

Badrinath has been deserving it for a long time. Vijay has been selected because we need a backup opener. They dont want to pick Manish Pandey because they want to have him play more domestic cricket. Pujara is not a replacement for an opener. Even if Srikanth is biased, its justified because unless these guys are selectors, TN players always get a very raw and unfair deal.

Thats not an excuse really lol.We already have an able all rounder in Yusuf Pathan.Irfan, though past his best wasnt that bad recently.Abishek Nayar seems to be more talented and hard hitting than him.Jadeja can never be greater than these guys at least in the present situation.

Yusuf Pathan is useless, I would hardly call him a allrounder. Jadeja is far more talented.

I cant understand why hes been given numerous oppurtunities as an allrounder despite he being failing with the bat consistently.
My question is why should we still stick with him when we have better players than him.You say he'll be better for test cricket. Its okay even if a player doesnt hit sixes at ease. You need to hit boundaries atleast. He doesnt seem to do that.Hes content with the singles and doubles. If thats the case he'll soon be worked out by the opposition.
EDIT:Yeah he seems to have a very good strike rate in 20 List A games. But Still Im not convinced. If he could transpire his domestic knocks to the next level,he can be a real success. But looking at what hes done till now,it doesnt seem happening.

Numerous opportunities? Consistent failures? I think LongLegs gave the perfect answer. 1 ODI and 4 T20Is... I know you don't like the guy but cut him some slack.

Worked out for hitting singles and doubles?

Do you actually watch cricket, a player like Yusuf Pathan that only hit's boundry's and sixes would get worked out a lot quicker.

I hope we prove to the cricketing world that we are still a good side. Defeats in T20s must not take anything away from the fact that India are still a good ODI and Test side. We must put up a great show even with a not-so-full-strength side which we have sent to the West Indies.

On another note, I`ve been disgusted by all the anti-India nonsense which has been going on in the ICC World T20 thread and none of it looks like friendly banter. Most of them are bordering racist. Labeling Indian fans as effigy-burners and pointing out how arrogant Indian fans are as well as repeatedly saying how they enjoy India`s defeats should indicate to you that we have won quite a bit in the past few months. :banana2 I`ve been posting sensibly all this while but I cannot take more of the crap that was posted there. Even some of the more senior members have been behaving like twats in that thread. Before you guys could pounce on me, you would find it hard to find a post by a senior Indian member on this forum saying stuff against other sides similar to the crap posted in the World T20 thread.

All this makes it even more imperative to win the series in the Carribean and give us fans something to cheer about yet again. Iam quietly optimistic about the chances of this side as well. Call that arrogance if you want to.

Solid squad, can't believe they left out Lendl Simmons after his T20 World Cup performances. Sammy should get a longer go in any format too. And, will be interesting to see Darren Bravo.

Nayar can play the Angelo Mathews role for us, with more belligerent batting of course. I hope he gets a good run, it'll be horrible to see him and Badri once again warm the benches.

After being knocked out of the Twenty20 World Cup in the Super 8 stage, India will be hoping to heal some wounds as they tour West Indies for a short ODI series immediately after the conclusion of the world cup. The Windies spot in the semis is not yet guaranteed, so it is possible that both these teams will have made premature exits from the tournament.

Common India you have to come back 0-4 I mean Windies - 4 & India - 0. You're in very good form Indian cricket team you can surely do it :cheers

Once again, West Indies Selectors takes a good thing and totally f it up, and I keep wondering if these guys are being paid, (apart from their salaries), paid direct cash or indirectly to keep f@#!& things up for us and our cricket!!! How on earth Lendl Simmons can be dropped, and a guy like Runako Morton keeps his place!!!
You know what to hell with this.

Are you drunk or are you trying to suggest that India are a bad side just because of the T20 WC performance.
In ODIs we have lost just 3 dead rubber games out of the last 21 ODIs (and all of those have come against top sides.)

Hope your brain is in the right place. WI to win 4-0 over India?

West Indies would have a better chance had they scheduled a tri-series with a final game to play. India are a little vulnerable when it comes to knockout games. Give them a bilateral series, and they will crush you (their have won their last 4-5 bilateral series in a very thumping fashion).

I back India to smash WI 4-0 (maybe 3-1 since we are bad at dead rubbers).

Nope dudes the current Indian team form indicates towards just what I said the Windies exploited the weakness of Indian batsman in T20 and they surely won't stop doing that in ODI's Our team is currently under "Bhagwan Bharose :upray" nothing else.

Our team is just like our share market it sky rockets for some time then after a while crashes hard. Its a fact that Indian team doesn't have consistency like South Africa or Australia. This hurts :( but its the truth

IMO, India can win this series, despite the strong lads of West Indies in colossal form. India're carrying a sort of whole bunch of Injured or Unfit players. So i reckon we could see some new players we've longed enough to see.

India can win here because they good squad. I am hoping to see Badrinath playing couple of good innings and help India in winning the series.
P.S. - Simmons is not in the W.I. Squad? OMG
