India tour of South Africa

Awful batting by home team.
Not today. You gotta give credit when its due.

I don't see us getting past 150 on this track.

Well played Hardik Pandya! Credit where its due. I frankly did not see that coming from him. Gave India respect and the chance to keep fighting in the game.

I am not existing in this forum to make you eat your words. I frankly don't care what you think of Ashwin. My opinion was posted based on my observation of the game. If you think its biased, feel free to have your opinion.

I said I would eat my words if he could prove a point with his performance. Also, no one cares about who thinks what on an internet forum. My post had more to do with your praise of Ashwin. He has had 0 impact on this game and your trying to make it look like he was impressive won't change facts. It's not about who thinks what of whom. It's about stating the facts.[DOUBLEPOST=1515407813][/DOUBLEPOST]
My thoughts exactly. Given the position we were in, I will take 210 happily. We should just play sensibly.

I hope everyone is themselves. Rohit trying to play like Pujara in the first innings won't work. Pujara must not try to bat like Kohli. I think everyone should play their natural game and bat around Pujara.

Can't believe I'll be cheering for Dhawan when he comes out to bat.

SAF had enough on board when they started the day for India's batting line up

Now they have another 50+ runs added to that total. If SAF are collapsing like this on this wicket, then expecting us to score 200 is absolutely naive. Match favored 80:20 in SAF's favor

I disagree. I don't think SA batted well at all.[DOUBLEPOST=1515408132][/DOUBLEPOST]Is it just me or should de Villiers have pushed the button a lot earlier?[DOUBLEPOST=1515408247][/DOUBLEPOST]Also people will harp about Kohli the captain but I didn't understand the logic of Pandya bowling ahead of Bhuvi.

Really? The pitch was not this lively on the first morning even. And the middle and lower middle order got absolute snorters from our "pacers". Plenty of unplayable deliveries in store for our guys when they come out to bat here.

You are absolutely right that there were some unplayable snorters. But I got the feeling SA batted badly as well. I feel 200 is something India should get.

I wonder where all the pitch experts are? Had this been a dust bowl in Nagpur that would have not gone into 4 days of cricket, the world would have ended.

I don`t mind either actually, as long as it makes for compulsive viewing. What I hate are wickets like the ones we saw in the Ashes. They were horrific test pitches, especially the one at MCG.

One thing I would like to add. If we are going to lose, lets lose by a mile so that our batting deficiencies get shown up for what they are. The team composition for Centurion needs a serious rethink. What a close defeat would do is mask the obvious cracks in the batting.

Another thing which this pitch shows is how sides hosting India end up losing the plot. India's best shot at winning overseas is on tracks like this or the one at Lords (2013), Nottingham (2007), Durban (2010) or Jo'burg (2006). Although the current batting lineup might struggle on such pitches, if we do field the correct batting lineup, the difference between the two sides becomes narrower in such conditions. Where we really struggle is tracks like the ones in Australia which have very little sideways movement and require real air-speed to make a difference.

If there is one thing SA take from here (regardless of the result), they would prepare a track with very little sideways movement but good bounce for Centurion.

Ofcourse we should get it. We are the "number 1 test team". But after the first innings batting display at a time when the wicket was supposedly at its best behavior, I have ZERO confidence that we will chase this. The way our top order folded on a well behaved wicket, I dont see how we can survive on a spiced up wicket now.

100% agree.

But don't you think there are huge double standards when a test in India/Pak/SL/Ban gets over in 3 days compared to Eng/Aus/SA/NZ

Dont care about what Dhawan does. He is a walking wicket. Vijay needs to make up for his horrendous mistake in the first innings. And Kohli better stand up and undo his shot from the first innings, which brought back horrific memories of our previous overseas tours
