Hugely concerned over Mukesh Kumar. He played the test, the ODIs and now a T20. I seriously hope Dravid & Co rest him for the remainder of the games. Else, he might break down lime the others who play 2 consecutive games :grinning:

The way we are losing to a team like WI! And the captain in waiting claiming that his young team will make mistakes...

India needs to get rid of Dravid at the earliest, else the same trend will continue in the World Cup as well

I wouldn’t yet press the panic button. This side is inexperienced with a new captain and this was a close defeat to a side that did win a series in South Africa after all. Dravid’s obviously gone anyways after the WC.

Having said that I can’t excuse letting Holder get away with those match figures and Samson batting at six. It’s a bit weird that Mukesh Kumar is suddenly prominent but he’s the first cricketer in a while that has been selected mainly off his domestic performances rather than the IPL and that makes it a bit tough for me to personally criticise him.

I think a few things need clarification:

1. Is Pandya going to be our full time T20 captain? Has he been given the license to do his duties until 2024? If yes, this is panic mode
2. What's the make of this side going to be like in 2024? Samson, Kishan and KLR once he returns?
3. More than the loss, the mannerism of the loss, the blatant mockery with which we treat it, is what riles me up

As for Mukesh- reports on social media stating that he is the potential backup to Bumrah for the World Cup. Basically means, he will be playing the World Cup.

How did the team of highest quality IPL shooperstars lose a T20 match against this minnow Windies team?

They would ,no doubt state the presence of Nicholas Pooran was way too much for them! Fresh off a MLC final century, a feat probably only dreamt of by IPL superstars- most of whom are chokers in such games.

Add to that, Pandya was crying over the fact that the food, drinks, party, music etc wasn't up to his liking.

  1. I think the BCCI are playing a waiting game with Rohit (and by extension Kohli). They’re waiting to see how the duo do in the WC this year before taking the final call on their respective futures in white ball cricket as a whole. I can see them continuing till the 2024 WC for some reason. But I do think Hardik will be the likely captain for that tournament even if Rohit sticks around.
  2. I don’t think Rahul walks back into this side in T20Is. Unlike in the past he hasn’t impressed in the IPL this time and doesn’t have any T20I form of significance in recent times. He’s also showed a clear weakness in struggling to meet the aggressiveness needed in the powerplay. He’s lost the vice-captaincy role too.
  3. Hardik isn’t media trained enough to handle our social media reactions. Truthfully I doubt anyone really is unless they’re extremely bland. Standards have definitely dropped under Dravid but this particular loss wasn’t really something that I would call a bad one.
  4. I’m not sure what these reports cite as sources or proof because Mukesh Kumar is nothing like Bumrah in terms of role, pace or variations. They’re the furthest apart for two pacers I can think of today. Why on earth would he be considered the Bumrah backup when Umran’s still being picked despite a poor IPL?

Pant will be ready for 2024 WC. Hardik is a temporary captain for India.
