Pant will be ready for 2024 WC. Hardik is a temporary captain for India.

You don’t make the guy who was averaging twenty-two and striking below 130 before a nasty accident the captain in the year he is likely to come back.

But this is a nice place to introduce…

Well, Hardik was terrible before that big turnaround in 2022 captaining GT in IPL who was dropped from national team. Who would've thunk something like that would happen and out of blue he would be chosen to be a full-time captain for India in T20Is

An unpredictable game, can happen to Pant as well. Never underestimate 'Time'.

Pant won't be captain. For starters, he will have to work his way in the team. With Samson, Kishan already in the team's plan and the likes of Jurel etc to follow, it might be tough for Pant to stake claim in the XI, as a pure batsman.

We didn't have any options to be honest. The selection committee went on a constant chopping spree which resulted in us fielding 30 odd players.

Hardik is still terrible and lacks the typical attributes of a captain. But then again, we didn't have options given they had tried KLR, Pant and with Jadeja having given it up for CSK.

I do foresee a situation with Gill being considered as the T20 captain soon after the World Cup

Don't give ideas to Mr.Dravid
I am not giving up hope on him installing Prithvi Shaw as captain. Given Dravid's history with these guys, he might be tempted to give Kishan a go ahead of Pant.

I just came to know that today's T20I is in Guyana and not USA and that made me realise that this is a 5 T20I series and not 3. (i know that it is written in thread title itself but I missed it in my ignorance).

First of all, have a T20 "series" just before the ODI World Cup, doesn't make sense. Secondly of all, "5" T20Is!?!?

Day by day, I am more and more getting flummoxed by BCCI and it's decision making.

Absolutely! Instead, make someone else the captain who has an injury-prone bowling action and is out of action since almost a year.

We already disbanded in 1947. Atleast when we disbanded we gave away 2 strong teams.. not sure if disbanding West Indies will even give us that!

That is a very overlooked thing, if India hadn’t been partitioned it would be even more dominant in the ICC

I really don't get the point here- the players dont seem to want to play, with the exception of Tilak and Jaiswal, as they are vying to stake claim on positions within the team. The coach is f*****d up, probably reminiscing his moments from CWC 2007. Why on earth did we even agree to this, when we werent going to turn up at all. Just for the money? Just for votes from WICB at the ICC?

Pandya, man, if this is going to be the team for 2024, I really dont know what to say. e are regressing badly and this needs to be arrested asap. The only way I see around it is India crashing out badly in CWC 2023. Losses in the first 3 games will literally set India on fire.
