India's Tour Of Sri Lanka Jul-Aug 2012

Irfan Pathan, the India allrounder, will join the squad for the Sri Lanka tour after fast bowler Vinay Kumar was ruled out with a hamstring injury. Vinay will be sidelined for three weeks, and the short limited-overs series starts on July 21.

:D :clap

That's probably the best news for some time now for an Indian supporter. Hopefully, Irfan performs well and sort of cements his place.

TBH finally a right injury to someone right

looks like everyone here wants to kill vinay. :lol for me its great to see irfan coming back to team that provides us an extra batsmen :D vinay get well soon buddy :mad as t20 world cup is coming we need you there :D

That's great news for India! Finally an injury that is good for the team. :D

Good to see Vinay Kumar is injured but Irfan? I am still not too sure about him. Anybody knows any other bowler in domestic cricket who has good OD record?

Irfan needs to prove himself, yes but, I'd want him to bowl with the new ball. He can't stop runs, he should be used early on. His batting at 7 is always a big plus. I'd have him as an AR any day over the likes of Jadeja and Yusuf.

You guys also be happy that they didnt call up that district quality fellow Mithun :mad in his place..... :D

Even I am not happy about this Vinay :noway....he is nowhere in the same league as the deadly Srinath or Prasad....

Did the words 'deadly' & Prasad come in the same line..... :p

I agree with you this time! Sachin needs to be more open about his future ODI prospects. The opening conundrum has recently plagued India and has led to enough controversies. Sachin's retirement in ODI's will solve the solution big time. Its time Sachin hangs up his boots in ODI.

Both these two will be more than useful on Sri Lanka's slow and turning wickets.

This would be my XI:

V Sehwag
G Gambhir
V Kohli
R Sharma
M Dhoni
M Tiwary
S Raina
R Ashwin
P Ojha
U Yadav
A Dinda/Zak

why raina? and 2 spinners?

I love how he said there is nothing called "Teesra". He made it very clear that there is one traditional off spin and one doosra or carrom ball that spins away from right handers.
The article makes it very clear that the doosra and the carrom ball are not the same thing. Ashwin claims to have developed the latter and to be working on the former. Personally I think we could benefit from having a better name for the "carrom ball", and I would also prefer it not to be 'teesra'. Perhaps a Sri Lankan word this time (in honour of Mendis).
