All this just an excuse to say Inzamam is better than Tendulkar? Not buying your argument for heaven's sake. Inzamam could have been exposed even worser. We might not know. He was no saint.

This has nothing to do with Inzamam - I do not know why you even bring up Inzamam in here. Inzamam NEVER started shaking his head when he clearly edged the ball and pretending that he wasn't out. The only instance I can remember is when he was given out obstructing the field, which is completely different from an edge.

What do you mean Inzamam could have been exposed worser? First of all, worser isn't a word, as far as I know. Secondly Tendular has always tried to make the umpire and players think he has not edged a ball when he has, or vice versa. Inzamam has never done that. I'm not sure whats there to expose...

If you have played even tape ball cricket, you will know that if you have edged a ball, you ALWAYS know. It doesn't matter who you are, if you are the batsman, and you have even got a SLIGHT nick on a ball, you will know.

And since you decided to bring up whether Inzamam is a better batsman than Tendulkar, I believe he is :). And why is that? Let's explore that, shall we?

First of all, I'd like you to agree with me on one point - You would rather have a batsman who plays match-winning knocks than a batsman who doesn't play as many match-winning knocks.

Assuming you agree with that point, lets look at something that just can't lie. Statistics :)

Inzamam-ul-Haq in games Pakistan have won: averages a HUGE 78.16. And guess what? Thats in 49 test matches. How can one average 78.16 in 49 matches, is amazing.

How about Sachin Tendulkar, who apparently is a better batsman than Inzamam?

Sachin Tendular is another match-winner, but definitely not better than Inzamam.

Why? - Sachin Tendulkar averages 62.11 in test matches India have won.

Can I rest my case? :)

And please don't mention Younus Khan, that'll only make Sachin look worse :)

Sorry mate, but that is about as lame an arguement as you get; but I'm not going to let this drag off topic so any replies to the Inzamam Vs Tendulkar comparison must go in a new thread.

I'm sorry vaiby, but what are you smoking?

There was DAYLIGHT between bat and ball.

I am honestly sick of Tendulkar's antics. This is the THIRD time in the series that he has been challenged, and the third time he's been wrong.

I am now going to quote Tony Greig, who was spot on today.

""It's the third time that Tendulkar has been found out. The third time that he been exposed."

"He said he hit it and technology said he hadn't. In the first Test, he said he hadn't hit it, but the technology said he did."

"There's no way he wouldn't have known the fact that he had hit it." (The first match)

And in the second test match, he edged the ball, clear nick, and he pretended he didn't nick it.

I guess old habits are difficult to get rid of.

Not walking is one thing, but to ask for a referral and fool his fans and himself is another thing. Especially since he is completely aware that the technology will prove him wrong.

The whining and shaking of the head have just become a habit of Tendulkar's, and with the referral system now wonderfully in place, he is struggling.

I am a fan of Tendulkar's batting, no question about it. When in form, he is one of the best sights on the cricket field. But these antics take awake from his legacy, and put players such as Brian Lara and Inzamam way above him.

He hit the pad, I think that's why he thought he hit the ball.

Inzamam is not above him, you're making yourself look so stupid it's unbelievable.

I've decided to 'boycott' the Champions trophy. I'm not going to (or at least try not to) watch it simply because there really is no point in it anymore. The politics, the crap selection, and reading Badrinath's interview was really very sad.

I can see him joining the ICL in the very very near future.

Boycotting the Champions Trophy due to a favorite player not being selected?

Geez, if you feel for Badrinath, feel for M Hussey, M Hayden, and all them. Selected when they were finally 30...

Dude,

Not a single south indian player has been selected. That's just blatant politics at its prime.

Badrinath averages 56 in FC cricket, averaged 66 in the last season, captains his side, is a freaking brilliant fielder, and bowls some good offies. He was brilliant in the IPL as well!

I've not liked the selection under Dhoni's captaincy one bit, sorry Dhoni fans (Shrav)

More importantly, Badrinath has scored runs against Kenya, Zimbabwe and South Africa A; all three of whom are slightly better than Indian domestic teams, imo and it shows he can bat outside India.

Also, Kholi struggled against international test-quality bowlers in the IPL. Badrinath handled them very very well.

He is being rested for the Champions Trophy. Keep in mind that he is still only 19 years of age and we have enough fast bowling depth to account for his absense in ODI cricket. We don't want Ishant getting injured before such an important tournament. Imo, it is a very good move by the BCCI to try to conquer burnout of fast bowlers.

Yeah, I also feel its not going to hurt us much because we have the depth in fast bowling. But his pace and bounce is always dangerous, and could help in SL ODI series (its an important series that we need to win coz SL in SL is very tough).

May be its not all Dhoni's choices. Remember, he has lost the last two ODI series under his captaincy (lost both finals). So I guess its more of the selectors than Dhoni. I also feel that South Indian cricketers are treated shabbily.

I don't know if it is a coincidence, not Dhoni's fault, or whatever, but ever since he's gotten captaincy it's been like there's some sort of Nazi attack on all the south indians in the team. Uthappa was the only one really who was in reckoning.

Kirsten's mother passes away

DURBAN: Indian cricket coach Gary Kirsten's ailing mother Gayl Hall on Friday passed away in Cape Town after losing a battle against cancer.Gayl was 64 and undergoing treatment for the lung cancer at the Vincent Pallotti Hospital.

Kirsten had left for South Africa on Wednesday to attend to her giving a miss to the third and final cricket Test between India and Sri Lanka.Kirsten was to join the team for the five-match One-day series but now it remains to be seen when he would be able to return to be among the players.

RIP

We dont need Kirsten for the ODI series. We have Sachin in the side, and we will have Upton with the usual guys of Prasad and Robin Singh.

well i am not watching odi series neither the chapions trophy its all crap look at the squad for odi in sri lanka and champions trophy. they selected kohli who hasnt done anything where they could have selected Badrinath. Indian cricket is going into politics and i want all the bcci members removed cuz they are messing cricket up with ipl and now they have created champions league wow. Bcci just want to make money no matter how they come

take the Inzamam vs Tendulkar to the thread with the same name.

Seeing how Prasads pace troubled the Indians I cant help but say that with Malinga or Fernando in the squad Sri Lanka would have this series all wrapped up by now.
Good to see Mendis still going strong on a pitch like this. Vandort needs to make a big 50 here, he has failed in the previous tests and gotten away with.

I want to rip my hair out at the selection of Kohli. The BCCI should read Badrinath's article on Cricinfo India. Maybe they would actually learn something.

Anyways, Zaheer and Ishant are on fire, getting good pace and accuracy.
