India's Tour of Sri Lanka

Pretty even now.

Gautam looking really good out there, should make the start into a big century.

Still have a lot of batting to come on a good track, i'd be happy with 470 odd.

No South Indians in the squad of 16.

Yup and that is where Politics do play its part in cricket.
I bet If Dhoni will lead India for next 5 years then there will be only Players from UP. ;)
Please don't quota me that it has nothing to do with Dhoni,Because It was Dhoni who kicked out Dravid and Ganguly.so He plays big role in selection.

Anyway I think Mahel is lucky with review system, whenever He asks most of time He gets decision in his favor. :p

Its because he only asks them when they are really close and he asks his bowler what he thinks.

Tendulkar should be out too, this Prasad guy is causing allot of trouble for India with his pace. What a difference Malinga or Fernando would have made.

If Review system would have include the use of Snicko then Sachin might got chance.
I am not sure He edged it or not.
How can you give away your wickets to very ordinary bowler like Prasad?

These Review system sucks, even 3rd umpire are making mistakes. If you allow to use review system then allow technology to be used on wider extent. After watching replay now I am feeling that Sachin might edged that ball.at least Snicko is in favor.

I'm sorry vaiby, but what are you smoking?

There was DAYLIGHT between bat and ball.

I am honestly sick of Tendulkar's antics. This is the THIRD time in the series that he has been challenged, and the third time he's been wrong.

I am now going to quote Tony Greig, who was spot on today.

""It's the third time that Tendulkar has been found out. The third time that he been exposed."

"He said he hit it and technology said he hadn't. In the first Test, he said he hadn't hit it, but the technology said he did."

"There's no way he wouldn't have known the fact that he had hit it." (The first match)

And in the second test match, he edged the ball, clear nick, and he pretended he didn't nick it.

I guess old habits are difficult to get rid of.

Not walking is one thing, but to ask for a referral and fool his fans and himself is another thing. Especially since he is completely aware that the technology will prove him wrong.

The whining and shaking of the head have just become a habit of Tendulkar's, and with the referral system now wonderfully in place, he is struggling.

I am a fan of Tendulkar's batting, no question about it. When in form, he is one of the best sights on the cricket field. But these antics take awake from his legacy, and put players such as Brian Lara and Inzamam way above him.

Ya you are right. He has done this 140 odds time in test cricket and now it is enough.
He should get ban from Cricket now.
No,no, go on I am going for work anyway so later I can catch Cook's innings.
You keep it coming Zmario. ;)

Important session for both teams,I hope Gambhi coverts his 50 to 100 this time.Either Ganguly or Laxman needs to give him support.

I never said that Sachin should be banned or punished. I am saying that in order for people to respect him as a legend in years to come, he needs to stop trying to convince himself he didn't edge it when he did, or vice-versa.

Just an interesting statistic - 29 reviews so far in this series (up to lunch on day 1, 3rd test).

8 have been successful reviews. 7 of the 8 have gone in Sri Lanka's favor.

Significant statistic because it shows that Sri Lanka have used their reviews wisely, and the umpires have been at par or decent in this series so far.

poor badrinath

"Forget about the performance during the Emerging Players Tournament. Even before that I scored heavily during India-A series against Australia and South Africa and the only player to have done better than me in domestic competition was Gautam Gambhir," Badrinath said.

"It baffled me when Manoj Tiwary went to Australia. But still I kept my cool. Now it is Virat Kohli. This is really going nowhere. None of the selectors have told me where I stand. They should allow me to fail by picking me in the side. If I am unable to prove my worth, I will be a fringe player all my life," he dared the selectors.

Badrinath has a point here as he has averaged 66.00 from 12 first class matches with four centuries (highest 200 not out) and three fifties for a total of 990 runs last season. In Ranji Trophy, he has an average of 65.90 from seven matches playing for Tamil Nadu.

Badrinath?s frustration is quite understandable as his efforts during the Emerging Players Tournament were better than the player who got the nod in the Indian One-Day team - Virat Kohli.

Indeed. It is not as if Badrinath is an aging domestic stalwart either, he is in the form of his life, can offer a part time option with the ball and is a good fielder.

Unbelievable, I know Kohli is the future star of the team, but this is just too far, I can't really see Badri ever getting a chance now, if they keep putting people ahead of him unfairly.

The review system is great. Today it's ensured that the right decisions have been made. Tendulkar was out, no doubt. As for Badrinath, I reckon he might be a fringe player all his life and that'll be a sad story, but he shouldn't give up. I haven't seen too much of him but his record's great.

well aint been on here for a while and india really need wickets early tomorrow otherwise this series could be gone.

Badri has a valid point. I guess he is being ignored because of his age. Virat Kohli being on the right side of the age, gets the call. Kohli also has the hype backing him what with him lifting the U-19 World Cup for India. But we have all seen what the guys who come from the U-19 do in the national team. Yuvraj still hasnt been able to fully establish himself in the tests, and he blows hot and cold in the ODI's. Kaif is almost a goner now and so did Reetinder Singh Sodhi. Piyush Chawla has also not been able to get a permanent place in the side.

All this just an excuse to say Inzamam is better than Tendulkar? Not buying your argument for heaven's sake. Inzamam could have been exposed even worser. We might not know. He was no saint.

We must be really disappointed with a score of 249 on a good track. the bowlers have to bowl really well if they got to challenge Sri Lanka in this match. If Sri Lanka get to 400+, we are well and truly done. They need to be restricted to a lead of less than 100. I dont see India taking a lead. This might be Sangakkara's game.

Dravid digging for himself his grave. Sachin might not yet be in that position, but he has fallen from the high standards quite a bit with this series. I have never seen him fail so comprehensively in such a long series. today's innings apart, Ganguly has been a colossal failure too. Still India and SL are neck to neck, and just think the difference had even one of these had a good series?

saisrini80 added 6 Minutes and 12 Seconds later...

Dirty politics.

For how many years has this been going? When will we have good selectors who pick squads based more on merit? I am tired of Indian cricket these days because there are a lot of loopholes in the system, and the players can only do what they can.

saisrini80 added 1 Minutes and 35 Seconds later...

You not happy with Ishant being rested?

What for is he rested so early? He hasnt played that much.

saisrini80 added 1 Minutes and 30 Seconds later...

Virat Kohli over Badrinath? This is the limit.

Sent an e-mail to Gary Kirsten. I won't get a reply but I can hope.

What will Gary Kirsten do that John Wright/Greg Chappell could not do?

"Even today I was there in front of the TV, with my wife, waiting for the team to be announced. I was numb when they finished reading the names," Badrinath told the Times of India. "I'm lost, I don't know where to go from here. None of the selectors have ever told me where I actually stand. I would love to know where I am lacking so that I can work on that."

"For god's sake, allow me to fail," Badrinath said. "If I am unable to prove my worth at the international arena, I will never say anything and be a fringe player all my life. But I deserve one chance."

http://content-uk.cricinfo.com/india/content/story/364138.html

I really feel for this guy. At 27, he will still have a good 5 or 6 years of cricket left in him, if he succeeds in the international stage. Age isn't a problem. Other than Gambhir, he's been the best performer in domestic cricket. But, he seems devastated. I hope he recovers and keeps performing well.

What for is he rested so early? He hasnt played that much.

He is being rested for the Champions Trophy. Keep in mind that he is still only 19 years of age and we have enough fast bowling depth to account for his absense in ODI cricket. We don't want Ishant getting injured before such an important tournament. Imo, it is a very good move by the BCCI to try to conquer burnout of fast bowlers.
