India's Tour of Sri Lanka

News that could possibly be wonderful for some of the Indian fans in here

S Badrinath, who excelled in the Emerging Players Tourney Down Under, which was watched by Vengsarkar, might get a look-in for the SL ODI series/Champions trophy. The same applies to victorious Under-19 World Cup skipper Virat Kohli

Badri deserves the call-up. Virat Kohli is not bad too (though I would let him play more domestic cricket before drafting him into the national squad)

Irfan and Uthappa under scrutiny

Current form and fitness will be the key criteria for India's selectors when they meet in Mumbai on Thursday to pick the squads for the one-day series against Sri Lanka, which begins later this month, and September's Champions Trophy. The meeting will also discuss the return of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the one-day captain who pulled out of the Sri Lanka Test series, and Yuvraj Singh, who was left out.

Cricinfo learnt that the players under scrutiny include Irfan Pathan, Yusuf Pathan and Robin Uthappa. It's understood that indifferent form is the main reason why it could be touch-and-go for Irfan, who had also nursed an injury during the Asia Cup last month, and Uthappa, who has been a key figure in Dhoni's gameplan.

Squad for Sri Lanka ODIs:
Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt), Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Virender Sehwag, Yuvraj Singh, Rohit Sharma, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Parthiv Patel, Irfan Pathan, Praveen Kumar, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, RP Singh, Munaf Patel, Pragyan Ojha.

It would seem that the only saving grace about this squad is that Ishant Sharma is being given some much needed rest before the Champions Trophy. Seriously, where is Badrinath? What has Virat Kohli done to userp the place from Badrinath or Dhawan.

M Patel
In ODIs

What the hell he did to earn his place?
I bet V Kohil won't play even single game.

Munaf's got a good ODI record and did well in two out of the three CB Series matches he played and so is fine as a reserve pacer.

Our bowling attack looks very weak. I think you need Sreesanth in there for some firepower, if you're gonna drop Ishant.

He's been rested rather than dropped. The attack does look shortish on pace but RP Singh, Zaheer Khan and Munaf Patel can all get it up to 135kph in ODIs, which is adequate. BTW, Sreesanth is still nursing his side strain after an unconvincing fitness report from the NCA.

Hmm, I know Ishant's been rested. Still, the bowling is not very good at all.

Apart from that He doesn't know How to Bat,He doesn't know meaning of word ''Fielding''.
And more importantly He can not contribute anything to team morale rather He can depress you on some occasions.

Riveting series awaits fitting finale

Sri Lanka-India has already made a strong claim to being called the Asian Ashes, as opposed to the contests between Pakistan and India, who over their last two series produced some of the most unappetising Test cricket on pitches that didn't deserve any better. The matches in this series have been far more exciting than the victory margins seem to suggest. In the first Test, we saw the coming together of two spinners who looked set to form the most fearsome bowling duo since McGrath-Warne. Till as late as the final two sessions and a bit of a see-saw second Test, one team took a lead of some sort, only to be pulled back even before they could feel comfortable.

Actually, Munaf has been said to boost team morale due to his comedic and rustic attitude.

If it is true then it is a news for me. ;)
though My grandfather has had same attitude, something common you found in old men,I guess.

Virat Kohli over Badrinath? This is the limit.

Sent an e-mail to Gary Kirsten. I won't get a reply but I can hope.
Please tell selectors not to select youth, for the sake of youth. Virat Kohli has all the talent in the world, but he hasn't proven himself yet. 11 FC matches and he represents his country? What about those seasoned performers who have scored consistently over a number of years? When will they finally get their chance?

Please have a good look at this guy and give me one reason why he can't play for India?

If the selectors insist on playing a younger batsman then go for a younger batsman with a better record, like Ajinkya Rahane.

He's played 1 more FC match and 7 more List A matches than Virat and has a better record.

I'm a huge fan of Virat but once again. Not youth for the sake of youth.

You have been doing a wonderful job as coach and I'm confident you will continue to do so. I do not know how else to convey my message so I'm having to put all my eggs in one basket.

Yours sincerely,
Shravan
