India's Tour of Sri Lanka

What? Badri is finally called up!

Tendulkar's time is done, I feel. Even though he may have a few good knocks left in him, I just cannot see his body lasting the rigours of international cricket for too much longer.

Lol, Nikhil, though I appreciate you posting all these articles, perhaps you could do a little bit more than post the articles. It might be a little bit mean on my part, but it's starting to get on my nerves.

If Badrinath is included in the final XI then I hope he's put in a position where he is able to play with MSD because they were quite a formidable pair in the IPL and complimented each other very well.

ALL HAIL KING BADRINATH!! :hpraise:hpraise:hpraise:hpraise :happy:happy:happy

Nuff' said.

Anyways, here's my XI:

1) Sehwag
2) Gambhir
3) Raina
4) Badrinath
5) Dhoni
6) Yuvraj
7) Irfan
8) Harbhajan Singh
9) Pragyan Ojha
10) Zaheer Khan
11) RP Singh

Why isn't Sreesanth in the team? if he's not still injured, then the selectors are stupid to put him after Praveen Kumar (an overrated player)

RP Singh!? Praveen Kumar is one of our best one day bowlers who just came up against some very, very flat tracks, and he is yet to show his true colors with the bat. Give him some more time.

It will be interesting to see how Badrinath will perform in the Dambulla bowling tracks

Badri is no King. Stop raising expectations. He will hardly find place in XI.

Whats so special abt Dambulla's bowling track? It will be another track that favors spin. Badri will have to face Mendis-Murali more than the track.

When underachieving players are hyped so much, why not hype a deserving player? R u a little sad that he is hyped, coming from the South?:p

I guess I will also rethink my idea of having RP Singh instead of Praveen Kumar. SL wickets are not expected to be quick. They will be on the slower side, relying on spin. If the conditions favor swing, then we can go in with Praveen Kumar and Zaheer with two spinners, Ojha and Harbhajan. RP Singh is on a temporary decline in form, and Praveen has done very well with the ball so far.

Although, I disagree on PK, they didn't pick Sree because they wanted him to prove himself at domestic level, which makes me LMAO because he was brilliant in the latter stages of the IPL, albeit 2020.

Scion, Badri will be twice as useful as Yuvraj in the line up, or potentially anyway.

On a vaguely related note, Yuvraj Singh has to be one of the most underrated ODI batsman of all time.

Since 2005 in ODI cricket: 3471 runs at 43.93 (strike rate of 87.34)

as odd as it seems or maybe at least to me the ones that underrate him the most and rip on him the most are Indian fans.

But its trues that he is underrated, I always wondered why he was being bashed by some fans because since I started following cricket he has been a good performer for the Indian team at least in ODIs.

when you look at that list Hayden seems to be really underrated, average of 55 and strike rate of 86 but he has played only 42 ODIs in that time.

All you Badrinath fans can thank me for his selection. You probably didn't see it, but I posted a letter I sent to Gary Kirsten's e-mail a few pages back.
Please tell selectors not to select youth, for the sake of youth. Virat Kohli has all the talent in the world, but he hasn't proven himself yet. 11 FC matches and he represents his country? What about those seasoned performers who have scored consistently over a number of years? When will they finally get their chance?

Please have a good look at this guy and give me one reason why he can't play for India?

If the selectors insist on playing a younger batsman then go for a younger batsman with a better record, like Ajinkya Rahane.

He's played 1 more FC match and 7 more List A matches than Virat and has a better record.

I'm a huge fan of Virat but once again. Not youth for the sake of youth.

You have been doing a wonderful job as coach and I'm confident you will continue to do so. I do not know how else to convey my message so I'm having to put all my eggs in one basket.

Yours sincerely,
Shravan
You're welcome :).

:D.

There are two factions in India when it comes to Yuvraj. I personally think he is overrated but from what it looks like from manee's stats, he gets the job done, which is what matters. He's also a match winner. I remember reading a stat that in his first 10-11 fifties, all but one had resulted in an Indian victory.

well In my opinion if he should be overrated anywhere its going to be tests but I cant remember too many people rating Yuvraj in tests.
In ODIs he is definitely underrated.

Not the matchwinning efforts stat again !

I don't rate Yuvi in Tests at all. I don't think he should be anywhere near the Test side. Just the fact that he got his last century in the same game that Gangu got a double shows how good the pitch was for batting. :)

It's a ridiculous correlation, though. If you have a guy who's fifties are getting you wins on automatic, you wanna make sure you exploit his potential to the fullest.
