India's Tour of Sri Lanka

:boxing

Sad Day.

Atleast Bindra won Gold in Olympics. :D

Laxman definitely has plenty to offer, if only for a few more years. He was one of the 3 decent Indian batsmen in the series and in the end he was doing it on one leg. Dravid really has to prove his worth, because right now it looks as if he has just lost the edge to be consistent.

Tendulkar is an interesting case. His elbow and groin problems are chronic and I suspect he will eventually get left behind in spite of runs.

Flop 4.

These 60 by Lax and Dravid should not save them. I expect Gangu to go now. He is firsr one too be axed. Sellectors fav axing man.

Yes, this includes Sehwag - he's a one time thing, like Afridi.

I dont quite like Sehwag myself but Afridi??

1) Sehwag does not dance on cricket pitches
2) Sehwag has scored far more number runs
3) Sehwag has a decent amount of 100s, 200s and a 300.

Regarding the fabulous 4 - they should go now. All of them, nothing wrong in making a massive clearout, but they have become really old. Get the youngsters in, give them time to settle and see how it goes from there. If you get the next generation in when they themselves are nearing their 30s, then I seriously do not see any point. Making Dhoni captain as well, give him a bloody chance. Kumble was NEVER a good captain.

Anyway, every batsman in that test team has to go, except Gambhir.

Yes, this includes Sehwag - he's a one time thing, like Afridi.

And Dhoni needs to come back, because Patel didn't look much better than Karthik (although I think Patel did hang on to the catches)

*These are just my opinions, don't shoot me!

Stupid ones. Sehwag has been very consistent ever since he came back into the test team recently. He played a great innings in Adelaide, and an even greater innings here at Galle. And he along with Gambhir has been giving India great starts. Its not his problem that the middle order does not capitalise.

Badrinath IN for the ODI series!!! I guess had he not burst out at his non-selection in the initial squad, he might have again been overlooked for the replacement. I wish luck goes his way now and hope he plays more in the final XI and gets some real good scores and aims for a permanent spot.

My ODI XI would be:

V Sehwag
G Gambhir
S Raina
Y Singh
S Badrinath
MS Dhoni
R Sharma
H Singh
P Ojha/P Kumar (depending on pitch)
Zaheer Khan
RP Singh

I guess Dhoni might favor Badri more because he has played with him for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL.

For sll you who hate Viru just to say that he has saved Indias ass 4 times in 7 matches he has returned in.

Indeed. Sehwag and Gambhir have been the shining light of this Test series. India have been searching since, forever, for a successful opening partnership and now they have found two batsmen with strong FC records as openers, good chemistry and complimenting temperaments.

Hopefully, he will capitalise on his opportunity. With Mendis and Muralitharan likely to create low scoring contests, Badrinath's methodical (polite for slow:p) knocks may come in handy and distinguish him from the swashbuckling youngsters who may benefit more from high scoring contests.

Dhoni does not necessarily favour Badrinath. If he did, he would have pushed for him in the ODI squad earlier. However, this is not to say that there is animosity between the two. I like the look of your side and think that Uthappa should stay in the squad as a reserve opener - he needs to know what his role is - shifting him around the order will not help him. Calling Ojha/Kumar an issue of simply the pitch may be an oversimplification. If the conditions aid swing, then Kumar would make the team as first choice pacer but if the pitch aids spin, then you would have to go with two spinners.

After Sehwag's 200* he hasn't done anything notable.

The problem I have with Sehwag is he gets such excellent starts, but usually NEVER capitalizes.

Stealing MSN India's headlines are we now :p.

Except for when he does and scores big. :clap

hey everyone where is cricket_god, that dude was talking allot of trash before this thing started. He was sending me PMs saying just watch Sri Lanka get destroyed blah blah blah and look what happens,

India need some serious rethinking, legends are legends but they still cant play forever. If they don't start introducing some new players and letting them mature as they go than India will be in some serious trouble when they have to bring in a bunch of youngsters at one time.

And what can I say about Sri Lanka. Almost everyone that played in these 3 tests had some good performances. Warnapura looks like a really solid opener, he has been in some form. And Mendis, wow what a find and what a bowler hats of to him.

Somebody give me the lowdown on this Badrinath fella then. I'm nto up to scratch with the new breed of Indian players.

Good young player in India averaging 56.49 in 63 matches. He is also the captain of Tamil Nadu so he obviously has a good cricket brain. One of the better players in India.

And that 200 was in just the last test match before the one concluded just now? Looks like no cricketer in the world can meet your expectations.
In this match, Sehwag did have a pretty decent one. More importantly, he gave India the starts with Gambhir. Of course, he can go on for a double century in every innings that he plays, but he is not super human (like how you guys expect Tendulkar to be?:p)

I would definitely say that Mendis almost single handedly won the series for Sri Lanka. It was his hype, his mystery that led to the low confidence in most of the Indian batsmen, and most of them didnt recover at all because he lived up to the huge expectations. One of the best ever tales of fulfilling the lofty expectations, according to me. I have seen him just on Youtube once. Want to see him live soon.

Thats Badrinath's career stats so far
http://content-usa.cricinfo.com/slvind/content/player/26806.html

He is a very solid batsman (more of the Dravid mould but can hit big when needed). He is an electric and superb fielder, and can occasionally turn his arm over with the ball (though not exactly a batting allrounder yet).
