India's Tour of Sri Lanka

Mendis bowled really well but it was the "Ghost" of Mendis did at least a quarter of the damage.

Somebody give me the lowdown on this Badrinath fella then. I'm nto up to scratch with the new breed of Indian players.

Can bat for hours and hours if needed, a king at grafting but can turn it up a notch in fine style if needed. Can bowl too, and is a rocket on the field, but his consistent batting is what we need desperately.

AHAHA, welcome to the club. Best answer is, the selectors are idiots.

I'd gladly swap you for ours. Ours do wonderful things such as overlook Harmison in Jones in the form of their lives in place of a Victorian dibbly dobbly who no one (including the then England captain) had ever heard of.

Woah those stats are impressive. Why has he never been called up before?!

You probably won't and this will probably be deemed advertising but perhaps you could have a look at my article to see what Indian cricket is all about. Some of it is a little outdated, but it is mostly correct if I do say so myself.

Badrinath will turn into India's Hussey. He'll get a debut when he's 30... when the fab four (or at least one of them) finally hang the boots up.

No. I want him to get his break right now and I want him to make it count. He is the ideal guy to replace one of our seniors in the test team soon. He has to start from now and go on. He also has the capabilities of a cool captain (can be a good replacement for Dhoni if needed).

God knows. He's actually in the form of his life - he averged 66.00 this FC season including numerous centuries (and a double century against South Africa A) for India A.

In OD cricket, he topped the run scorers list for players playing One Dayers in India with 567 runs at 56.70 with a strike rate of 73.73. In addition, he is a very good fielder.

There is no room in the Test side, fair enough, but he has been shunted repeatadly for OD cricket and even for the Test squad, which has been the true outrage.

Dravid, Ganguly don't need to prove their credentials: Dhoni

CHENNAI: As India's experienced players drew flak for their lacklustre show in the just lost Test series against Sri Lanka, ODIs captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Tuesday came in their defence, saying they did not need to prove themselves.

Dhoni, who gave the Test series a miss but is returning to lead the team in the shorter version matches, disagreed that experienced players should be more accountable than other members of the team in the Tests.

"You cannot ask a Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman or Anil Kumble to prove their credentials," Dhoni said in an e-mail interview.

Good reply by Dhoni. In fact, I feel that its time for him now to take over the reins of captaincy for the test side. Even though he is not as good a test batsman as an ODI batsman, he is a young and experienced captain now, and as Greg Chappell said, he should be given captaincy once the Aussie tour is over (the toughest tour for a cricketer like him). Kumble was just a stop-gap measure and I dont see why they have made him a permanent.

With Badri in (FINALLY!#!@$@%!@!@%!@:happy) I would go with something like this -

Gambhir
Sehwag
Raina
KING BADRINATH
Yuvraj
R Sharma
Dhoni
Praveen
Harbhajan
Ojha
Zaheer

I think that's a very good lineup and we finally see some solidity there in the middle order. I would personally like to see Badi up at three but I think Dhoni will go with Raina, just like in the IPL. And, there's no problems with him in there at four.

Dhoni and the team selectors shouldn't mess up and choose Kohli over Badri now!

Handling Mendis is up to the individual - Dhoni

Hardly 15 minutes after Mahendra Singh Dhoni arrived at the team hotel in Colombo with his fellow one-day recruits, had he faced a barrage of questions. No surprise that most of them focused around the man who snatched almost half of the Indian wickets in the Test series, Ajantha Mendis.

"I'll just ask Mahela [Jayawardene] if he will lend Mendis for a couple of practice sessions. If not, then...," Dhoni said with a laugh when asked how India could tackle Mendis. "But seriously, we will have to deal with it in a personal way. We can watch 1000 videos of what he does, but it is up to the individual to play him on the turf. It depends on your frame of mind."

Dhoni rues loss of Sachin

COLOMBO: India cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni rued the absence of star batsman Sachin Tendulkar for the five match ODI series against hosts Sri Lanka that begins next week.

"It's very difficult to replace him. Not only with bat and ball, but in the dressing room as well. He gives us a lot of advice and comes up with brilliant ideas so it's going to be a big loss," said Dhoni, who took a break from the game skipping the Tests that preceded the ODIs.
