India's Tour of Sri Lanka

No no, I stick with my theory of Gambhir bull charging Ishant, and things getting out of hand.

Apologies to Zaheer's fans.I have really underrated him a lot.Awesome from our bowler.
It is never easy to do come back after humiliating lose in 1st match of the series.
Also far enough Why did people crying for Badri? Great Spirit from a youngster. He certainly looks promising to me.
Still I am not sure Gambhi out of the playing 11.It was lucky for us that We were chasing 140 odd and our bowler did well job.Anything over 180 would have changed the result.
I honestly rate Pathan as a class all rounder but no way he can open the batting and especially when Srilankan seamer are in good form.
Rather I would love to see Yuvi opening the batting.

I agree with you that Yuvi should open up the batting when Sehwag or Gambhir will be out of the team. That will help him because when he comes in to bat in the middle, M&M or any spinner might get him out easily but if he does opening, he will have more time to get settled and can get a big score

How about sticking sharma at the top and prove he's capable. A duck when they needed him most... i can't help but think he needs 6 years in domestic cricket. Kohli proved to be a level headed individual so i it seems like he can stay as openner until gambhir comes back.

Kohli should be in domestic cricket and grind way to team not get selected due to his reach in BCCI. Badri has done that and he can do what Hussey has been doing for Aussies.

For the sake of his career, Irfan Pathan needs to be dropped. Seriosuly. He needs to go to country cricket and regain his form.

.Agree he should go back and Regain his form.. But at the moment i think he can be a wicket taker Lets hope it happens a good day for him

If Gambhir returns for the next match, the line up that I would like to see is this :

G. Gambhir
Yuvraj Singh
S. Badrinath
M. Dhoni
V. Kohli
R. Sharma
S. Raina
H. Singh
P. Kumar
Z. Khan
M.Patel

Badri, Yuvraj and Raina should share the 10 overs that remain because of the absence of the 5th bowler.Pathan left out because the last time he contributed was when Vajpayee was Prime Minister:p.

I guess Pathan has lost it. No pace, no swing. Only his cutters and slow deliveries wont take him too far. He has to build up his body, build up pace and come back, or I dont see a long future for him as an Indian international player

saisrini80 added 4 Minutes and 47 Seconds later...

Hope Yuvi makes a good knock in the 3rd One day..

That is, if he hits big before the arrival of Mendis. All that he can do is do everything before Mendis comes. Yuvraj has been bamboozled to Mendis (bowled twice, and LBW plumb once in all 3 games)

Well, in my opinion Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly and Laxman, who are meant to be the backbone of indian batting are now failing woefully, and to a certain extent, the BCCI not doing much about it. In a country with a population over a billion, there are bound to be cricketers with immense talent, but they are just hidden.

I reckon they should concentrate on the next few years and try mould their successes in Tests. The ODI team has been consistent so far since the 2007 World Cup. The likes of youth- Dhoni, P Kumar, I Sharma, P Ojha, Y Pathan mean that India could be one of the powerful teams like Australia and potentially overtake them in the rankings.

There should be more new players in the Test team, I guess players from the domestic circuit who average around 40-50 in first class matches, another point i would raise is there are hardly any bowlers who can bowl over 150kmph consistently, and i'm sure there is someone in India who can. Ishant Sharma, can't handle so much cricket in one phase, he needs support. Every team has a RF or LF bowler, Pakistan hav M Sami, S Akhtar, Windies have J Taylor, F Edwards, Australia have B Lee, S Tait, then why dosen't India.

My instinct tells me India will win the ODI Series 3-2 hopefully, if they're not mesmerized by Mendis and Murali.

I would play both Kohli and Badrinath in the remaining games. Both of them look really good and are doing well for their first series as international players.

This will be a good time to test out the skills of Raina and Rohit Sharma. Raina scored all those runs in Pakistan, but when it comes to crunch situations, he fails. He has to rectify that. And he misses out on these challenging wickets (the wickets in Pakistan were flat as a pancake). I thought he was back, but his problems seem to continue.

India needs backup for Ishant. I would say Sreesanth should come in soon after he recovers. And we must try to blood Yomahesh (He did well in the IPL too for Delhi). I have lost faith in Pathan.
