India's Tour of Sri Lanka

Well, in my opinion Sachin, Dravid, Ganguly and Laxman, who are meant to be the backbone of indian batting are now failing woefully, and to a certain extent, the BCCI not doing much about it. In a country with a population over a billion, there are bound to be cricketers with immense talent, but they are just hidden.

I reckon they should concentrate on the next few years and try mould their successes in Tests. The ODI team has been consistent so far since the 2007 World Cup. The likes of youth- Dhoni, P Kumar, I Sharma, P Ojha, Y Pathan mean that India could be one of the powerful teams like Australia and potentially overtake them in the rankings.

There should be more new players in the Test team, I guess players from the domestic circuit who average around 40-50 in first class matches, another point i would raise is there are hardly any bowlers who can bowl over 150kmph consistently, and i'm sure there is someone in India who can. Ishant Sharma, can't handle so much cricket in one phase, he needs support. Every team has a RF or LF bowler, Pakistan hav M Sami, S Akhtar, Windies have J Taylor, F Edwards, Australia have B Lee, S Tait, then why dosen't India.

My instinct tells me India will win the ODI Series 3-2 hopefully, if they're not mesmerized by Mendis and Murali.

LOL! :laugh :rtfl :watchtv

India needs backup for Ishant. I would say Sreesanth should come in soon after he recovers. And we must try to blood Yomahesh (He did well in the IPL too for Delhi). I have lost faith in Pathan.

Do we really need to make the ODI fast bowling pool any bigger?
- Praveen Kumar
- Ishant Sharma
- Sreesanth
- Munaf Patel
- Zaheer Khan
- RP Singh

We need to take care of the elite who have risen to the top and the time of accepting bowlers who have poor List A records simply because they can bowl 135kph or swing the ball must end!

We need to pick Vinay Kumar damn it! I never understood why he never gets a mention, one of the top bowlers in the country.

Here's my XI for tomorrow's match:

1) Gambhir
2) Kholi
3) Raina
4) Badrinath
5) Dhoni
6) Yuvraj
7) Rohit Sharma
8) harbhajan Singh
9) Praveen Kumar
10) Zaheer Khan
11) Pragyan Ojha

4 bowlers is just full of fail. The series has moved on from Dambulla and if the pitch plays to experience, then both sides will be counting on big runs from their top orders. If they need no. 7 to get a big score, then they're probably already dusted. A flat deck also means that those pacemen need an escape plan when the ball doesn't swing. Even with five bowlers, a part timer is probably going to get a short spell. To say that you have to get at least 10 overs from a very mild selection of part timers is to ask the opposition to take some bonus runs.

Dhoni and Yuvi should start opening.

Then the lower-middle order will become fragile. One should bat down the order. Since Dhoni has matured and has fairly cut down on his risky shots, he is ideal to bat low down the middle order not to mention he can whack it a loooooong way when necessary. Yuvraj should handle the pacers upfront. Vaas is slowly losing his old abilities as he is getting older and should'nt be a problem to Yuvraj. Gambhir & Yuvraj should open in my humble opinion.

Munaf has never been a consistent ODI player. He bowled well in the 1st game. RP Singh has also been inconsistent where he looks clueless on flat subcontinental tracks. When the swing isnt good, Praveen Kumar goes flat. Same with Zaheer but he can manage with his experience. Ishant is the only one who can do something on dead wickets. With most tracks being dead and flat these days, a fast bowler with more pace would definitely help and Yomahesh can be that bowler.

Ahaha, so you're saying YoMahesh wouldn't be whalloped everywhere when the pitch is flat? I'd rather have Praveen in stead any day.

Dhoni handles Mendis and Murali much better. He should be down there to handle these two. I would have Badri down too for the remaining matches to counter Mendis and Murali. Yuvraj should be shielded as much as possible from these two, and so must Raina be (he is also not able to decode mendis).

Yomahesh has pace. He did well in the IPL for Delhi and bowled cleverly.

I concur too. Yuvraj should open the innings and face the faster bowlers. We can put Kohli in his middle order spot and see how he faces against M&M's

Praveen Kumar is an overrated player, by Dhoni and the selectors at least. He's absolutey useless on flat tracks.

We need Sreesanth - he bowls his heart out on even the flattest of tracks, every single game, and can clock 145k if neccassary and gets great swing. I think a pace attack of Zaheer, Ishant, and Sreesanth would be deadly.

As for Yomahesh, meh. . . not yet, at least. Give him a few more years in domestic cricket. Sid Trivedi is a better option in my opinion.
