Zimbabwe Board XI v England A - T20 match 1991/2 - Bulawayo

Toss: Zimbabwe

Pitch: 2 - Good batting wicket

Weather: 3 - Sunny, some cloud

Zimbabwe Board XI 186/2 (20 overs)
(K.J.Arnott 29, A.H.Shah 94*, S.V.Carlisle 21, A.C.Waller 38*; J.P.Taylor 2-39)

England A 172/6 (20 overs)
(M.D.Moxon 34, K.J.Barnett 97, G.P.Thorpe 24; A.H.Shah 3-16, A.G.Huckle 2-25)

Zimbabwe Board XI won by 14 runs

After Shah set up Zimbabwe Board XI's total of 186/2 with an unbeaten 94*, England put in a magnificent but ultimately futile chase.
Lead by captain Kim Barnett's 97, England A entered the final 2 overs requiring 23 to win.
2 wickets tumbled in A.G.Huckle's next over, and he conceded only 4, meaning 19 were required off the last, which was too much for the lower order.
A great game, and a last over finish, but England A remain winless in Zimbabwe.

Full scorecards and match report to follow on the blog later tonight.

West Indies A would feel pleased with their first of 3 three day matches before the tour closes with 3 back to back 4 day Unofficial Tests v India A.
Fast medium bowler Ezra Moseley enjoyed a Green first day pitch in taking 6-64, after openers Srikkanth and Shastri had given a masterclass in Green pitch batting to put on 153 for the 1st wicket.
Barbados opener Sherwin Campbell compiled his 2nd century of the tour and seemed to cement a spot in the 3rd Unofficial Test team with 106, before Jacobs also impressed with 92.
The BCCI XI were under immense pressure in their 2nd innings, 4 wickets down and just 39 ahead with over 3 hours left to play.
Thanks to Vengsarkar's 87 they batted out time and secured the draw, but it was an excellent match and the visitors were in it right to the end.

Full scorecards to follow on the blog later tonight, busy getting through other matches currently.

Just updated the full scorecard from this game:

Zimbabwe Board XI v England A - T20 match 1991/2 - Bulawayo

Pitch: 2 - Good batting wicket

Weather: 5 - Sunny, some cloud about

Toss: Zimbabwe Board XI

The home side won the toss, and elected to bat on a good batting wicket expected to take the sting out of most of the bowling.
Ali Shah made a brilliant unbeaten 94*, propelling Zimbabwe Board XI to what seemed like a matchwinning total of 186/2 off 20 overs.
Apart from Paul Taylor with 2 wickets, the England A attack again struggled in what is turning out to be a difficult tour for them.
When England A replied, their openers got them off to an excellent start, raising 61 inside 6 overs, and the chase was on.
Captain Barnett carried on to a magnificent 97, but when he was out with 23 required from 1.3 overs, the later batsmen could not maintain the rate.
Defeat by an eventual margin of 14 runs was disappointing for England A, and left them winless after 3 games on tour.
Man of the Match was Ali Shah, for his bowling as much as his batting, as he toook 3-16 from 4 miserly overs to snuff out the visitors chase, after making an unbeaten 94* with the bat.

BCCI XI v West Indies A - 3 day First Class match 1991/2 - Kanpur

Pitch: 4

Toss: West Indies A

West Indies A won an important toss, allowing their fast bowlers loose on the first day on a Green.
An opening stand of 153 between Srikkanth and Shastri made the visitors question their decision, before 6 wickets to a steamed up Ezra Moseley saw the BCCI XI all out for 298 on the opening day.
Lead by a century to opener Sherwin Campbell and 92 to keeper Jacobs, West Indies A replied strongly and declared with a lead of 62.
When the 4th wicket fell in the BCCI XI's 2nd innings, they were only 39 ahead and with a long tail to come West Indies A sensed their chance.
Some excellent bad wicket batting on a now Uneven pitch by captain Dilip Vengsarkar saw his side to the draw, aided by some bad light and gritty tail end batting.
It was an improved performance from West Indies A, who despite the draw, would have been happy with their performance.
Man of the Match was fast medium bowler Ezra Moseley, his 1st day bowling being some of the best of the tour.

Indian President's XI v West Indies A - 3 day First Class match 1991/2 - Lucknow

Pitch: 81

Toss: West Indies A

West Indies A won the toss and elected to bowl in Humid conditions.
Fast medium bowler Henderson Bryan enjoyed the conditions to take 4 early wickets, leaving the home side struggling at 189/6, before allrounder Manoj Prabhakar and keeper C.S.Pandit came to the rescue with half centuries.
A century to Shivnarine Chanderpaul, his first in West Indies A colours, allowed the visitors to pass the follow on target, whereupon they immediately declared.
The 2nd innings of both teams was a largely pointless affair, as they played out time.
The match was predictably drawn, with Man of the Match being Shivnarine Chanderpaul for his match saving century.

Indian President's XI 382 (102.5 overs)

Fast bowler Tony Gray took 6-53 in his best performance of the tour, to send a warning to India A before the 3rd Unofficial Test.
The match was predictably Drawn, but Gray and Browne had at least given the West Indies A side something to feel pleased about going into 3 back to back Unofficial Tests to finish the tour.

South African Board XI v Pakistan - T20 match 1991/2 - Durban

Pitch: 5 - Normal

Weather: 7 - Showery

Toss: South African Board XI

The South African Board XI won the toss, and lost 4 early wickets to Imran and Waqar.
An 81 run stand for the 5th wicket between a young Herschelle Gibbs and wicket keeper Richardson revived the innings.
Gibbs finished on an unbeaten 76*, looking an instant fit for the T20 format, as the Board XI posted an eventually healthy 150/5 off 20 overs.
In reply the Pakistan openers added 50 to put the chase on track, before a brilliant unbeaten hundred to Saeed Anwar swept them to an easy victory.
Apart from Fanie de Villiers, the home bowlers were powerless to stop the run flow, as Saeed quickly ended the match as a contest with a Man of the Match performance.
Victory by 8 wickets was Pakistan's 5th victory in six games on tour.

India A v West Indies A - 3rd Unofficial 4 day Test 1991/2 - Bombay

India A 226/2 (59 overs)
(R.Lamba 68, W.V.Raman 45, V.G.Kambli 77*, R.S.Dravid 26*)

India A dominating at Tea on Day 1, the West Indies A bowling attack running out of ideas on a pitch that will be best for batting on Day 2.
India scoring at close to 4 an over look set for 400+ with their long batting lineup featuring keeper Mongia at number 8.
If West Indies A don't strike with the second new ball it could be a long day in the field tomorrow as well.

India A v West Indies A - 3rd Unofficial 4 day Test - Bombay

India A 525 all out (159.2 overs)
(R.Lamba 68, W.V.Raman 45, V.G.Kambli 153, R.S.Dravid 56, S.C.Ganguly 21, N.R.Mongia 58, M.Venkataramana 40*, N.D.Hirwani 39; A.H.Gray 2-90, C.E.Cuffy 4-93, E.A.Moseley 2-90, R.Dhanraj 2-128)

India A piled on the runs, making 525 before their innings ended shortly after Tea on Day 2.
Kambli was the star, making a big hundred to keep himself in the selection frame for the tour to Australia and World Cup later in the season.
A last wicket partnership of 61 further frustrated the visitors and saw the home side past 500, possibly a match winning position with 376 needed to avoid the follow on and the pitch set to favour the spinners on the final 2 days.
The West Indies pace bowlers tried hard, but their spinners were ordinary again, not able to transfer form from the tour matches into the unofficial Tests.

Young Zimbabweans v England A - 3 day First Class match 1991/2 - Harare

England A 137/3 (35 overs)
(H.Morris 38, J.P.Crawley 62*, D.A.Reeve 28*; B.C.Strang 2-12)

Despite the loss of around 2 hours to a succession of heavy showers, England A had made good progress at Tea on Day 1.
With Crawley and Reeve both scoring at close to a run a ball on a good batting pitch, it promises to be an entertaining final session.
